We went for our first park day today (MK). It was packed.
I thought, for some reason, you could book another fast pass when you used one, but now I think it's only once you've used all 3?
We had good ones today - thunder mountain, splash mountain and 7DMT, but those were the only rides we went on (aside from the carousel). Just not worth the hour plus waits.

What is your next park? What is your current plan? Looking at touring plans it does seem like the crowds should be a little better as the week goes on.
I would definitely try to get there for rope drop. I would also try to have at least a minimal plan for at least the morning so you are not wasting park time trying to figure out what to do next.
I am far from an expert. Our only recent trip was 2 years ago and we only stayed for 3 days. I wished I would have figured out the FP rules sooner. I kept trying to add more FP using the app and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. We could have gotten more done on our first day. The second day at MK I feel like we accomplished so much more. We got to the park earlier - probably 9:30 (following the Ohana breakfast at the Poly) and we were able to do Thunder Mountain without a FP then used our first FP for Splash Mountain by 11 (this was with ride sharing so DD got to go on each ride twice). We scheduled all our FP to be done by early afternoon so we could then get another. I thought the lines for the FP kiosks looked so long, but so much better than trying to wait in line for the more popular rides without a FP. I also took great advantage of the Disney app for wait times so we could plan things in between FP. The only other park we visited was HS. We used our 3 FP and left - it was August and super hot. Have fun!
I used the Disney app a lot to check wait times in between fast passes. It was easy to see if certain popular rides had a random lull - we got on a quite a few with <20 minute waits that way!
I would have a plan of the ones you most want to do plus the easiest ones to get on. So at MK, you'd do your three fast passes and then do the people mover, Carousel of Progress, the carousel, the teacups, etc., until crowds die down and you can do more of the popular rides.
