I'm starting to side with the blue haired ladies in my choir: "These low rise jeans just accentuate my muffin top." So I'm looking for jeans with the following characteristics
Mid-rise without being mom jeans
Dark wash available Little/no stretch Petite sizes available Option for slightly or fully curvy fit, as I seem to have grown hips in my old age I'm willing to spend some $, but I'm not paying more than about $100 for jeans
If you have some you love and would recommend, I would appreciate it!

Target sells Denizen jeans cheaply. Someone else on ML mentioned them as her go to. BTW, I feel your pain. My DD's encouraged me to wear lo-rise so I spent some bucks on a couple of pairs. They accentuated my muffin top so well!
Garnet Hill has some relaxed jeans that say low-rise in the description, but I find them to be more mid-rise. The material is also better quality than most jeans. I've owned a white pair for about 5 years and it still looks fairly new.
Whe I was in the states I liked the GAP classic cut? They are a mid-rise, but they are cut higher in the back than they are in the front. So you get the look and feel of a lower rise in the front, but from the back they sit in the small of my back. they also stay up and cover your bum when you sit.

I'm wondering how old is old enough to just say "Fuck it!" and make the move to elastic waist jeans. As much as I'd like to do that, I don't think anyone here is quite that old yet.

I just bought elastic waist shorts on vacation because I was desperate, and cringed the entire time
I have 2 pairs of cotton/linen elastic waist pants. They are breezy and tropical ok?
I figure that I am not tucking a shirt into my shorts/pants, so as long as the fit is right, it doesn't matter if the waist is banded, elastic, drawstring or whatever.
That said, I don't have any elastic waist pants other than yoga pant type pants, and I only have one pair of elastic waist shorts. I bought the shorts because they were a really cute b&w pattern that will go with my extensive wardrobe of black tops, they were a flattering short-ish length and they don't look like anything my 87 yr old mom would have worn in the past 30 yrs....or ever. We have very different styles. ;p
I have a really short waist and no space between my hip bones, waist and lowest rib, so have a hard time finding any shorts or pants that fit right. Add to that that I have absolutely no behind and really need to have pants that fit above the hip bone to actually stay up, and it makes my choices limited. I will buy anything that fits my body, fits the look I want and stays up. lol
