Poll: would you be less likely to go to a bday party on a holiday weekend? Options: yes or no, ss.
Further details being 4th of july weekend and the party being on the 2nd since the 4th is a monday. Would this be a weekend you normally wouldn't go to something like a party due to being out of town or would you think of it as fun to add to the holiday weekend? (party would just be bbq type, outside if weathers nice)
I don't usually go out of town for Independence Day. A B-day party on the Saturday before the 4th seems like a good day, it gives a two-day buffer and that seems good
This year to celebrate our nation's birthday, I plan to go to the movies and see my boyfriend (Jeff Goldblum) in Independence Day- Resurgence Those are my only "big" plans, lol, I'm really excited!
This is all brought to you by my neurotic attempt at planning a bday party but not having another other input. H originally said not to do the party his actual bday weekend because everyone would be done since its the 4th. SO pushed it out to the next weekend and its another friends daughter bday and no one else is really looking to be available.
So in a huff I said well lets go camping instead, Aj loves it and we can just take a cake with us to celebrate. Theres nothing really available for camping though. And H isn't too hot on the idea of going during the week. Back to planning a party and thinking of changing the weekend to the actual bday weekend of the 4th. H just won't comment or opinion on ANYTHING and its driving me nuts! I need input dude! I'll do all the grunt work but give me some thoughts lol
We live far from family and always get a 4 day weekend for July 4, so we travel. Also, last year we were camping on DDs birthday. Some cousins were there too. We bought a cake and sang to her and she loved it. Really loved it. But I just realized for your DS it's his first birthday, so you really gotta do the whole family/smashcake party!
CrazyLucky, thats what I was hoping for but we both have REALLY small families and both H's sets of parents live to far that they wouldn't be there and I only have my dad so family participation is next to nil. Its mostly friends but a lot of them are wishy washy so we never know, I guess thats why Im trying to do whats most accommodating so his birthday he will never remember won't be a flop lol

In that case, I'd just do it on July 2. I'd still get the smash cake for the pictures, but I wouldn't worry about it being to small of an affair. I'm glad you're reasonable about it. I know some moms who would be very upset.

I think either you're the "we ALWAYS travel on holiday weekends" or your not, you just have to know your friend group. We never travel on holiday weekends (and didn't grow up that way), but I have a few friends who are the solid don't-count-on-us-being-in-town types.
