Background: was "laid off" from company after 9 years of being their bitch. Spent 7 months unemployed, got a part time job that was fun but nowhere near what I'm worth/capable of. New boss decided to sell the business and I've been unemployed AGAIN since February.
So I just accepted an offer from my former company's direct competitor.
It's a 45% increase over my previous full time job, and a 300% increase over what I'm getting from unemployment (which is exactly the same as what I was making when I was working part time).
It's a less than 30 minute commute. The team seems really easy to get along with.
I don't have a start date yet, but I just sent the email officially accepting the offer (they still have to do a background check).
OMG I'M GOING TO BE FULLY EMPLOYED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, there is an engagement ring sitting in a drawer 10 feet from me right now.
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. I mean seriously, unemployment blows, but this is such a huge step up from your last FT gig!
It's a similar role, but with the actual title and pay grade of a patent paralegal. And I have room for training and growth with a team that seems really supportive and happy, unlike the last group.
I'm going to miss sleeping in, but not once those paychecks start rolling in!!
Congrats!!!!! Office still in the South Bay? I'm guessing Peninsula given the commute?
Yes, South Bay, but not peninsula. Campbell, right off of 85. The only shitty part of the commute will be 3 miles on 85. From my house, I'll be able to go against traffic to get to 85, but the 3 mile stretch on 85 will be 15-20 mins of sitting in a parking lot. I'm sure I will quickly find the back ways to get there.
