I'm 30 pages from the end of my book and I'm about to start my lunch hour to finish it. It's been my lovely break from the reality of my family - almost every one of them is currently driving my around the bend.
And there's a sparrow that is coming to my bird feeder ... he/she has a feather that is sticking out like it's about to fall out, so I know how often he's pigging out. No wonder I had to refill the feeders this morning!

Sassy break a leg tonight! Ufcasey, it's been a long week and it does feel like Friday already.
A couple of weeks ago I didn't bring lunch and didn't have time to run out and grab something. By the end of the day I was so hungry I stole an ice cream treat from the community freezer. Not even sure who brought them in, but I feel so guilty I want to buy a new box to make up for it.
I've also come to the realization that I'm becoming a book snob. I'm reading a lot more, but keep complaining that every book is "too long" and could be "cut down". I don't think I'm reading the right stuff.
I want to see Me Before You this weekend, but my husband's actually off tomorrow night so we might see Finding Dory...since you know adulting.
My 4 year old son has been sleeping with books for the last couple of weeks. Every night after we read our nighttime stories he goes to his book shelf and gets- My Father's Dragon, Charlotte's Web, and book two of Magic Treehouse. Always those three books. He tucks then into bed beside him just like a child would a teddy bear. It is too cute!
I don't know if anyone here has a beginner reader but my daughter started reading The Princess in Black series by Shannon Hale. My daughter is hooked and she loves that she can read them by herself. For being a very basic reader book the storyline is cute.

We've implemented a summer reading program at our house complete with prizes and a homemade racetrack poster with hand-drawn cars. It's cheesy, but we needed something to keep the kids motivated and occupied during summer break. Well, yesterday evening my son was complaining about how long it takes to read a book (he's a 2nd grader and we're talking about early reader books). My H says something like 'just wait until you've had a little more practice and then the pages will feel like they fly by.' So I said 'yeah, last week I read a 400 page book and a 600 page book back to back and finished them in only 4 days.' My son was gobsmacked. It was hilarious! But I think it motivated him too :-D
Thank you Sarah J. Maas, ACOTAR and ACOMAF for this lovely Ah-ha moment.

I've read a lot of books that could be cut down, but for those that are really well done I *adore* the long ones that let me really bury myself in the story. All of my most favorite books are either long stand-alone novels or series.
I'm feeling in a bit of a funk about reading new books right now. I kind of just want to keep going with re-reads. I think my brain is tired.
I fell your pain. I've done so many re-reads this year. I've had a few new ones that I've enjoyed, 1 or 2 that I've loved, but I've been so meh on everything else.
My mom is coming to have dinner with us tonight. I always enjoy that. And chocolate pie for dessert. Yummm....
I'm about 150-175 pages away from finishing Voyager. This series gets better with each book. I'm also proud of myself for finding time to read between all the school work I have to do. I've never been able to do that before.
rainbowchip, I love that! I may try to implement that for myself!
My only random is my skin is making me mad lately. I tried a new sunscreen and ever since my face has been getting pimples, which I haven't dealt with since high school. I stopped using it but I'm still waiting for the gross to go away. First world problems.

I went to see Me Before You with my sister. She hasn't read the book (and didn't know it was one), but I feel like either I'm a movie/book/tv show snob or my sister is WAY out of touch.
We saw the Fantastic Beasts trailer. She had no idea what it was, that it was at all related to Harry Potter (it was the same theme music!!!) Ok, so not every one knows that.
Movie starts and I whisper, look it's Dany! She had no idea who I was talking about and she's seen Game of Thrones. Even after I said Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi, Targaryan and she still didn't recognize her or the characters. She didn't recognize that it was Neville Longbottom that played the boyfriend or who I was talking about (she's seen HP), she didn't recognize that the dad was Tywin Lannister, and she replied, who? the King? And she didn't recognize Finnick from HG which she's also seen and read.
I feel like I should have gone to the movies with one of you guys. YOU GET ME.

I admit to often being oblivious to actors but that's a whole lot of not recognizing. To watch 50ish hrs of GOT and not recognize two of the main characters?

This happens to me a lot too. My IRL friends don't get my references and then I feel like a dork. We need to have a GBCN movie night, lol.

My random/confession is that I have been knocking back Yoo-hoos like it is my job. On a whim, I picked some up to take on our camping trip last weekend. Now I am obsessed. This needs to cease or my rear end is going to look like a tub of lard.

I've tried Yoo-hoos and I just don't like them. Also, junk in the trunk ain't a bad thing!
Wes and I picked up some strawberry milk from a local dairy farm last weekend on a whim and he decided he hates it. Darn, I'll have to drink it now.

I think that's it. I feel almost embarrassed at how much I know about them because I love it. I have a few friends that are HP and GoT geeks like me so I have an outlet, but I always feel like I have to hold back my nerdness a bit.
Luckily my sister and I just pat each other on the head a move on.

I do have a coworker who watches GOT and Outlander (he hasn't read the books though, so I have to watch out not to drop spoilers). My hairdresser and I can talk about The Vampire Diaries though. Such a guilty pleasure. My friends/family just deal with it.

I'm so out of touch. I had no idea the main girl in Me Before You is on Game of Thrones, I don't watch that show. My husband keeps calling her the mother of all dragons, and asks where her dragons are when we see the commericals.
Aurora, I'm reading "The Cuckoo's Calling" right now, it's good, keeping my attention, but 230 pages in and we have no idea who might have done it because there's 18 people, just feels like we should be a lot closer to the end. Some of the other ones I would have cut down include:
Before I Fall (good book, but I think we could have removed a whole day and still covered the plot) Dark Witch by Nora Roberts We need to talk about Kevin (I'm sorry the mother drove me nuts)
I'm sure I could lump some Jodi Picolt stuff in there too. I really like her work, but sometimes I question if I need as much detail about the characters past as I don't see the link to the current story.
I'm sure I have more but those are some of the more recent "why is this so long?" books.
So I was listening to Broadway Showtunes on Pandora when Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) came on singing Empty Chairs at Empty Tables from the movie version of Les mis. I've never seen the movie.
