We keep talking about becoming prepared but have yet to do it. We plan on non-perishable foods, bottled water, a water purifier, batteries, flashlight, crank radio, blankets, basic toiletries, pet food, and two way radios one of which we would give to my parents who live very close

lol thanks for the shout out Baby A
Prior to moving, we had a stash of water but not much else as far as an emergency kit of any sort. My mom swears DH and I don't keep enough food in the house in the event of an emergency.
I wouldn't say that we can survive the apocalypse (actually, I've already asked H to kill me if the zombies come), but we do have a kit. We have food, water, camp stove, flashlight, radio, all of the basic stuff.

I really want to make one, now that we have M. I want to make sure we have water/food/supplies just in case. Once we clean out our (very, VERY messy) garage, we'll make a spot for it.

You need to add some pet food to that supply kit now, uw!
we have tons of food in our house of the non perishable variety. we have no extra water.. we used to keep it but we don't any more.. we wil probably die if there is a major issue..
nope, I don't really consider this a big earthquake area personally - I'm just not that concerned about it
Really? Please do explain! I'm not being snarky, I'm really and actuallu curious why you think this.
I don't know, partly because my family has lived here several generations and never experienced a serious natural disaster. I know that doesn't mean nothing bad will ever happen here, I just honestly don't feel concerned about it. Heck, the power has never even gone out where I grew up. I'm sure people will say it's careless, I just haven't ever felt it was necessary.
