Lol! OB told me to monitor and take a rx headache drug, and lay on my left side for an hour. Call again if it didn't help. It helped, so I didn't need to go in. Thank God.
Didn't get a pedi today- prioritized the all important nap, but I'm going tmw morning.
Other than that, just sitting around waiting for Tuesday. Check in is at 11, section at 1! I'm excited! And terrified. Lol

I know a c-section is surgery and you end up with a needy baby at the end and blah blah, but this sounds so much nicer than my labor experience. I am totally doing a repeat c-section for #2! Guaranteed delivery date and no contractions? Yes please.

Lol! I actually really wanted a vbac at first. Then my OB reviewed my chart from my first csection (diff dr) and realized I had a failed forceps delivery with a 6lb baby. She was really honest about the fact that she was worried it wouldn't work and would be a bad experience.
I told her a good experience was more important to me than a vbac, and she said she can all but guarantee that wth a RCS. She promised immediate skin to skin, letting the baby latch in the OR if she tries (though she warned me the angle sucks and so it might not work out), she offered to let me watch or pull her out (hellllllll no, that's why she gets the big bucks) and that I would be in the post partum room with dd2 30ish min after the section. Last time I didn't get to meet or hold dd1 for over 4 hours
I'm looking forward to it! I mean, abdominal surgeries suck ass (I've had 4- two ovarian cyst removals, one csection, one gallbladder) , but I think I've figured out how to recover quickest so hopefully this goes well!

I'm going to check with my doctor, but I'm scared to try for a vbac. I was in labor for 27 hours before the csection and I never fully dilated. I have no interest in going through that again, so unless she can somehow guarantee me that I will fully dilate, I'm not risking it.
I definitely want to do skin to skin in the OR next time, but can't decide if I want to watch or not.
Overall, my csection and recovery was a good experience and much better than I thought it would be. I can only imagine a planned one will be even better.
I hope that your experience on Tuesday is great! It sounds like your doctor really has a handle on this!

Yup, similar experience here- labored for 36 total hours, ended up with a csection. My epi had started to wear off and so I freaked on the table and they had to put under general.
New OB is aware, and swears this one will be better! She is cool and laid back and on top of her shit ....and she just had a baby in Jan so she knows what it is like!

Oh no! Well, I promise this will be better then. I got to hold DS right after they wrapped him up (I want to do skin to skin next time though) and was in the recovery room with him 20 minutes after DH took him away. The nurse helped me get him latched as soon as I got in there.

A scheduled section is sooooo much better than a long failed labor followed by surgery. They gave her to me immediately for skin to skin (and draped the blanket over us both to keep her warm). We started nursing in the recovery room. The whole recovery was so much easier - things that still hurt months later the first time healed much faster.
One warning: it takes much longer to stitch you back up than take the baby out. I didn't notice the first time (after 40 hours of labor with a failed epi, I didn't notice much that first time). Luckily the doctor reminded me so I wasn't worried about the delay. You get to chill with the baby so it's all good.

My repeat was so nice. I did get a bit pf anxiety walking into the OR on my own but they were able to put something in the IV tp calm me down and it was instant. Wish I could have taken that home!

My husband and I were wanting to have two kids back to back but after my emergency c section experience I feel like I'll never be able to do it again. Reading this and your plan with your OB makes me feel slightly better. I hope it all goes perfectly.
Just like you I wasn't allowed to hold or see him for hours. I'm not sure how much of that was the c section and how much was his Algae being a 4 at birth but regardless I know how much it sucks.
Everything is going to go smoothly and perfectly for you! I just know it!

I was not ready to even consider having another baby until a year after M was born. Like, I was seriously considering being one and done.
I liked my last OB- we were living in west TX and my options were somewhat limited because I didn't want to deliver at the hospital my students rotated at. But he was good- just kind of old school. I think he did the best he could with what he had.
This time around it has been SO MUCH better. My OB is young and female. She is (or at least acts like, lol) totally cool with my doing my own research and bringing her ideas. I brought up the idea of trying low dose aspirin to avoid pre-e. She was supportive. I brought up the idea of immediate skin to skin and latching, etc and she was supportive. I brought up that I wanted to immediately start nifidepine after delivery to avoid reynauds and she was cool wth that. She hadnt heard of it, but said she would research for dosage, etc and make sure it happened. She has monitored me more carefully than she would have otherwise, but she's been flexible and open. I cannot imagine how different this pregnancy might have been wth someone different.
I think the biggest thing this time- for me- is learning just how different pregnancies can be! It was a nice surprise This one hasn't been without its issues, but definitely a lot better than my first!!!
