Starting last night, I was having waves of period-like back cramps and my belly would get hard. That's a contraction, right? Even if I'm not having a lot of pain in my belly?
I fell asleep around 1:30am, sure that I'd wake up in labor. But, no. I've had two contractions this morning.
The anticipation is KILLING ME.
ETA- also, did your baby move around much between contractions?
Sounds like maybe Braxton-Hick? Can you time them at regular intervals? Do they go away when you lay down and rest?
They haven't been regular yet. I had some while I was laying down last night, and then I guess they either went away or I slept through them for a few hours.

Getting close. For me, both times the contractions hurt. No comparing them to BH. It's so annoying but when people say, you will KNOW when they're contractions, they're right. Once they actually started, there was no questioning it. For me anyway GL!
My contractions didn't hurt until after my water broke. I actually thought they were hot flashes. I only found out otherwise because I was in the hospital being monitored overnight, and the nurse looked at the chart and was like "oh how was that last contraction?" And I was like "oooohhhhhhhhh. Sooo I've apparently been having contractions for a couple of days..." They weren't at all regular, either, but were more frequent as time went on. And then my water broke and it was all sysyems go.

That's how my labor started too. I didn't know I was having contractions because they didn't hurt at first. I found out when they hooked me up to the monitor. My water broke at home and then when I got to the hospital they finally started to hurt. Good luck!
Your body is getting ready for the real deal. And I promise, you will know when you are in labor vs. Braxton hicks. I know people say that and you are probably thinking, but HOW?? But you just do. For me, the biggest clue, is that I needed to breath through the contraction instead of just being able to talk like normal.

So excited for you!!
Although that is true, mine never really hurt until they were 2 minutes apart. So if your slightly painful/uncomfortable contractions are 5 minutes apart, start packing up anyway.
You are braver than I to be at work. I think with DD I took a day or two off before her arrival just to rest.
I was supposed to go in today, but I requested to work from home. And tomorrow is my regular telework day. Hopefully I won't have to go in Wednesday! Lol.
I don't remember if she was moving or not. I mean, they would have to be since part of this is moving them down and out but I can't recall feeling anything except the cramping.
And like papie, once it started to hurt I was about an hour from baby

After my water broke with J my contractions felt like period cramps until about 7 hours later when they really kicked in. Sounds like you're getting close!!

The movement between contractions was what my contractions felt like. When they hooked me up to the monitor I joked, "Oh baby must not like that, its moving." The nurse looked at me like I had three heads and said, "Uh, that's a contraction." Oooookay then...

That's kind of what it feels like for me, too. Like, when she sticks her butt out and stretches my belly.

I'm 38 weeks and have been feeling this way for the last week or so. I'll start having contractions then they slowly taper off. Hoping this is it for you (and me soon too)!
