Have always booked direct with Disney. This trip we are looking at a Poly studio so I put in for a request with DVC rental. The price is soooo much cheaper then the Disney rack rate for 2016... and I assume will be even cheaper when the 2017 rates finally come out. Are there any downsides with booking through a rental company vs. a cash reservation with Disney? I understand about not getting daily mousekeeping but any other differences. Can I still make fastpass reservations and on-line check-in just like I do with a normal Disney reservation. I didn't realize how much of a cost save a rental was!
Just booked with David's for a great price. So far the experience has been great. I believe you can link your reservation into mydisney for booking fast passes. I never would have known about this option if it wasn't for this board.

You can buy discounted tickets through undercover tourist and link them. You can also add and pay for the dining plan. You just don't get any deals like free dining. Also the cancellation policy varies per rental company. Some don't allow any cancelling, some allow within X amount of time.
Usually the DVC villas have a bed plus a pull out (full or queen) couch rather then two actual beds like a regular hotel room.
Your room does not get cleaned daily. You get trash and towels changed once in a 7 night stay or one full cleaning plus a trash and towel for an 8+ night stay
Thanks so much for the quick responses! DH is on board and we are going to book. Just hope they can confirm a reservation. So excited to get a trip officially on the books!!
