You guys, I feel like 100% poop!
Tman had boyscouts last night. Cub scouts, we went to all the meetings and stuff, but we don't do that with boy scouts. We drop him off. It's designed like this. He didn't go last week because of his piano recital.
So, we drop him off last night and when we pick him up, he gets in the car and says that we were supposed to be there. That they had a ceremony where they called all the new boy scouts up and had them stand there with their parents and get there scout badge and were supposed to put a pin on one of their parents. He was the only one standing up there without a parent. He burst into tears. He was so upset. It was, of course, an accident and he knew that. He knew that we had no idea (they talked about it last week during the meeting he missed), but it still didn't make it any less embarrassing for him to stand up there without us, nor did it make it any less hurtful to not have his parents there.
Of course we apologized to him like crazy, hugged him, told him we wouldn't have missed it for the world if we would have KNOWN. He knew that we didn't know and he forgave us, but he was so upset.
This is just about the worst. I am going to have a really hard time fogiviing myself.
Oh my gosh. That it totally the kind of thing I would do. They should have emailed a reminder to the parents for something that important. Sorry. I feel your pain.

Well, they did kind of, but I didn't know the new scouts were getting anything. I knew there was a ceremony thing going on, they emailed out about that, but I thought it was awarding the merit badges and the Eagle scouts. I had no idea that they were doing anything with the new scouts. They sent an email out saying the new scouts were doing the color guard for the night, and I honestly thought that was all their involvement...Tman's done that a hundred times, so nothing special with that.

Poor Tman. But I agree with @lauralynne, and this occurrence and the disappointment will fade with time. And hugs to you, mistakes happen and I hope you are able to forgive yourself soon.
