And lol that you have 15 more years of control over this. You have maybe 2, then she will start voicing her own hair opinions and you will let her because her hair should not be your hill to die on.
I never said that she would let me choose.
Just that I would be obsessing over it. LOL and
Don't worry, my mom still makes comments about my hair, and asks "will you ever grow it out?"
You've got the rest of your life to obsess about it!
sallywalker that is freaking adorable. My kid has an opinion and wants long hair, I just get it trimmed a few times a year . I love bobs on little kids!
We are all saying basically this but your use of the hillbilly phrase "needs cut" kind of ruins your credibility. Just a helpful hint as to why you're the one getting quoted. Lol.
just checking, it's ok to use hillbilly as a derogatory name? You could be offending hillbillies...

Every time I add more layers to my hair my mom is like, "People die for hair like yours!" Okay, but 1) it doesn't look very stylish at one length and 2) other people don't have to blow dry it. IT NEVER ENDS.
My solution for this was to take my daughter to my salon (because I trust my hairstylist) and pay a ridiculous amount of money for a 5.5yo's haircut. I'm very happy with the result though, so it was worth it. I figured she's an expert on hair and she wouldn't lead us astray.

I'm crazy about my kids' hair, and admit it.
What is a crazy amount? Becuase the place I am going is not cheap.... And I may be crazy too.

I paid $45 for Scarlett's which is the kid rate. Lol. Mine is $65, so it was a discount. And it took as long as mine takes so I figured that was fair.
Jeez, some of these kiddos with such beautiful long hair! I feel like all I'd be hearing about was, "TANGLES, MOMMY. IT HUUUURTS."
Which, incidentally is why I keep my hair short, too, lol.
The Wet brush is the best invention in the world. We braid her hair at night, use conditioner and the wet brush. She never gets tangles and if she does they brush out super easy.
I am equal parts entertained and also over the lost locks of my youth. I wish my mom had been a little more like you, Laz, instead of the perm it and cut it until it resembles a poodle-do for far too many years.
A child doesn't need a hairstyle. Please stop being crazy.
But won't it still just look... scraggly?
liverandonions I am obsessed with your DD's haircut. How much effort does that take?
Thank you! It's really pretty easy-it's stacked in the back so it lays under easily. We wash every other day and we always have blow dried her hair so she doesn't go to bed with it wet but it just takes a few minutes and no special brushing while drying.
And no you do not wish her hair was curly. People who have straight hair always wish their hair was curly, and curly people are always like "LAWLS, honey, no." Because curly hair is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch.
This is like women who are all "I wish I had big boobs like yours!" Heifer, no you and your cute little spaghetti strap top and pain-free back do not, go sit the hell down.
Yes. YES. I used to have straight hair. Beautiful, thick (of course) straight hair. It started growing in wavy after I had W and now I'm left with a janky, puffy mess of super wavy in the back and straight on the top/sides and an ever growing graveyard of haircare products. I look like a lion that got a little too close to some fan blades. It's the pits.

We just got one from my Stepmom and every time I use it I want to call and tell her I love her.
My DD just gets trims, though. She is blonde, and if it makes you feel better the first cut didn't make her hair any darker looking. I think that depends on your kid and if they will be light a long time of it it is just "baby blonde". My DD is almost 7 and she is still extremely light at the roots.
Here is a pic taken shortly after a haircut right before I took Christmas pics. There is nothing special about her cut at all, but it looks clean and is a length that is easy for pony tails and braids.

I think this is important to keep in mind for your DD, @lazerus24. Being in the FL heat, out at baseball games, on the water, it will be so nice to be able to put it up and off her neck.

Just get her a trim. When DD was 3, I started bringing her to the salon with me and my stylist does her hair. She's been amazing at talking DD out of bangs so many times, plus DD loves it.
