What are you reading?
QOTW: Because it's seems like t's been bad news all over, and we could all use reminders that there is good in the world, what are you thankful for this week?

I'm about 1/4 of the way through Me Before You and I'm listening to I Was Here by Gayle Forman.
QOTW: I'm thankful that I'm able to live comfortably (which believe me hasn't been the case until recently), at least for the time being. Being able to afford vacations is a wonderful thing
I just finished the second book in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. It was better than the first book, but I still have my reservations about it. I'll keep on reading the series though. In the meantime I'm listening to The Cuckoo's Calling and reading Goddess by Josephine Angelina (the last book in her Starcrossed series). I'm not far enough into either to make a judgement yet.
QOTW: I'm thankful that despite three terrible events back to back in my area, there's been nonstop love and support with vigils, fundraising money, businesses giving away their services and products for free to the victim's families and to nurses/doctors/police who have helped, miles long blood drives, and personalized remembrances of each victim as an individual in the news so they aren't just the number 49. Orlando and all the surrounding suburbs are really coming together. All this love and support helps me remember that there are still good people in this world.
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah - amazing and beautiful but so depressing i am about half way through
Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah - I am loving this so much! I am about 3/4 through and will finish up tonight and can NOT wait to read it!!! So interesting
QOTD: I am soooooooo thankful for my amazing family, especially my parents. Hearing all this terrible news makes me appreciate and make the best of the little time we have here, bc you never know

I'm re-reading the Anne of Green Gables series. Right now I'm about 6 chapters into Anne of Avonlea.
QOTW: I'm thankful for the news here doing feel-good stories to counteract the bad news -- from a week-long in-depth report on a prison dogs program, to fluff pieces on camel racing in Outback Australia. And I'm thankful for DH who did not once complain this week when I just could not handle the news one more minute and switched to reruns of The Penguins of Madagascar or Hogan's Heroes. And for Twitter accounts like Faces in Things, because everyone needs a bit of laugh.
I halfheartedly started The Rosie Project last night. If you've read it, it's quick right? It's not a book I normally gravitate to and I think I could give it a few solid days, but if it's long and involved, I'll probably put aside.
I'm also finishing up Career of Evil. So thanks again to all those who suggested the series! I loved them.
QOTW: I'm looking forward to some time off next month. And I'm looking forward to finding a house and hoping I don't have to try to beat 5 other offers again. It's exhausting.
I'm nearly finished with Death Wears a Mask by Ashley Weaver, the second Amory Ames mystery. I didn't like the first one all that much, but this one is pretty good.
QOTW: Trees, birds, puffy clouds, stormy days. Nature is wonderful and terrible, but I find that comforting. Few things are all one or the other.
On a fluffier note, I'm thankful for our town pool. DD gets to play with her besties and I get lap lanes, a deck chair with a book, and 15 glorious minutes of adult swim each hour.

It's definitely a quick, light read. Good luck with the house hunting -- our market is crazy like that right now too.
QOTW - Great question! It's something I've had to remind myself this week. I'm grateful for so very much. I have a job I enjoy that pays me a very healthy wage and my boss and co-workers are people I've known and cared about for 15 years. When I got laid off last December, I was incredibly lucky to re-join them and continue working form 2,000 miles away. I miss my Dad but the rest of my family is reasonably healthy and, while some are struggling, for today they are OK. I love my house (bought last fall) and while I miss the friends I moved away from last year, I'm glad to have moved closer to family. And my furry babies - I'm grateful for all the ones I've had in the past and for the ones that I have today.
I shared this on FB ... my boy doesn't let much interfere with his nap.
I am currently reading You by Caroline Kepnes. This book is making me consider shutting down my social media accounts.
I am thankful for my family. I am thankful that my family and friends are happy and healthy. There have been some major health scares the last couple of years, which have all ended well. I am thankful for my parents who are being a tremendous help with our move.
I'm almost done with Troublemaker by Leah Remini. I always knew Scientology was cult-ish, but I never had any idea of the extent of it all. Crazy. I definitely recommend this one.
QOTW: I'm thankful for my health and that of my family, because without them I'd be lost. And I'm thankful that it's Friday!
I am reading As Time Goes By by Mary Higgins Clark. She is a favorite and I find her books easy/comforting. I have been exhausted every night or I am sure I would be farther along.
QOTW: My husband, my parents, good friends, my health, the strength of my body. Having enough money that my needs are met and I can have many of my wants.

I am reading Truth or Beard by Penny Reid. It's cute and light so far.
QOTW: I am thankful that I have the Lord to turn to for comfort, especially when there are weeks like this past one. For my family and our health, safety, and happiness. I am thankful that I have a home to come to and food in our bellies.
I am reading Iceland's Bell. So far I'm liking it a lot. I'm listening to Career of Evil, which is fantastic. (I'm also reading the BFG out loud to my husband, lol.)
TGIF! I'm listening to The Oregon Trail by Rinker Buck. It sounded so promising- modern day guy and his brother travel the Oregon Trail by horse and wagon. While very interesting from a history perspective, I guess I've read/listened to so much Bill Bryson that I have high expectations from travel writing.
I'm reading and almost done with Dollbaby by Laura Lane McNeal. It was recommended to me by a friend as similar to The Help, and while not quite as amazing it's a solid novel. I love the main character, and I'm a big fan of Southern Fiction in general. I'd recommend it.
QOTW: I'm so very thankful for my health and my family. On a more frivolous front I'm so thankful for the amazing weather on tap for this weekend when we actually will be home for once and can putter around outside at will!
I am also thankful for www.goodnewsnetwork.org/ Whenever DH reads me the CNN headlines I have him flip over to this every so often to get a dose of some really good stuff going on in our world that, sadly, doesn't sell so it's not covered in the mainstream.

I thought Troublemaker was absolutely fascinating. I had a hard time putting it down. Totally crazy stuff!
snshne322, The Rosie Project was really cute. It took me a chapter or two to get into the writing style but I enjoyed it. The sequel is not worth your time however.

I finished Invasion of the Tearling (sequel to Queen of the Tearling) last night. I didn't like it as much as the first, but there are some parts that I'm eager to see resolved in the last book.

I'm reading Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. I think there is nothing she could write that I wouldn't love.
QOTW: I am thankful for the health of my family and friends. I'm also thankful that where I live, my kids can go play outside without me out there watching them every second.
QOTD: I'm afraid my mood is too foul to answer this right now. Let me have some wine and think......oh, I know! I'm thankful for wine today!
I'm sorry you're in a bad mood. I hope it resolves itself quickly and I hope the wine was a good one. Best wishes for a bright, sunny, better Saturday.
Reading Cutout by local author Francine Mathews. It's an intense CIA story. So far worth finishing, pretty intense considering this week tho.
I'm thankful for how awesome my dad is with my two boys. This wasn't intentionally Father's Day related, but I was watching how much he was loving on DS2 tonight after dinner and interested in what they were both saying. I love how engaged he is with them and seems to really savor his time with them.

Ah, thank you! (rose) My husband's got The Man Cold and he might not survive it - lol. At least he's asleep so I can enjoy my wine and book in peace!

my H has the man cold too and he's "suffering through it." I want to suffocate him in his sleep.
