POA?

H might be leaving in a few months so we need to get our POA paperwork done. So...how do we do this? lol

Can we call base legal and ask them to put something together or do we need a lawyer?

There's a small chance he's not going, but h thinks it's pretty set in stone. So I guess it's hurry up and wait for the time being.

What's the difference between regular POA and special? (I realize I could just google lol)

Base legal will ask you a bunch of questions about your life and any situations that might arise and recommend a billion different specific POAs for you based on your life circumstances.

You shouldn't need to do anything. My husband has always gotten all of the POAs done through his squadron and then just brought them home to store in the fire box. We personally do a general POA, real estate (we own two homes), vehicular, and an en loco parentis kind of deal where I have the right to make all of the decisions regarding our children.

Also, they can be written up on the fly if necessary. Obviously it is best to have them done before he leaves, but if something unexpected were to pop up he can have them drafted from afar. My real estate one doesn't cover home sale (just decisions regarding our rentals and any repairs) but we have decided to sell and aren't sure he will be home before it goes on the market. So he is having another one written up for that situation. No biggie.

That's true. She'll probably know whether that is her situation or not.

Dude. They're being insane about this deployment. At least I know I'm not going! Lol.

We just need a yes or no! H's job is starting to get upset. They've put some major decisions on hold until they know for sure. This is so frustrating.

It's nuts to me that people don't know for sure.

He's not going. We have mixed feelings but I'm just glad to have answers.
