As a short (5'3") person I have never worn long casual skirts or dresses but I bought my first long dress at Loft yesterday. It was from the petite section but it is actually shorter than I thought it was going to be. It hits about top of my ankle so it is about 3-4" off the floor with flats. Is this a total no-no? Should it be touching the floor? I know the regular size would be way too long, and the waist would be in tech wrong place.

I don't like floor length. I much prefer ankle-maxis because they don't trip me up as much and they show my pretty sandals and pedi, LOL. I love it when I can find that sweet spot just a few inches above my ankle. It's so PERFECT.

I tried on a petite maxi at J.Crew and the salesperson said that's where it is supposed to hit. I tried on the regular length but it fit way awkward everywhere else, so I went the petite length. I was happier once I had on shoes and accessories.
