This woman is complaining about the lack of smoking areas. I mean I'm not a smoker so I am definitely biased but I don't want to be walking into a cloud of smoke on a hot muggy day. I would be ok if the parks were completely non-smoking.

Someone on the DVC boards posted that they are selling because Disney has changed so much that every restaurant you go to has children (and there are no more "slow" times). Ummmm its Disney of course kids are everywhere.

I totally didn't mind the lack of smoking areas. I hate smelling it. They are definitely way off the major path and quite hidden. You have to look at the park map to find them.

It's funny that you say they are way off the major path and hidden....I feel like practically every time I try to step off the major path (not far, just out of traffic) at Epcot and find a shady spot to stop and figure out what we want to do next or wait for the rest of the group to catch up, I wind up in a smoking area. If anyone wants to find the smoking sections they should just follow me around...then they can laugh at me realizing it and hightailing it out of there. ;p
To be fair, she summarized her trip and one of the things she didn't like was the decrease in the number of smoking areas in MK. It wasn't a total rant about that. The people who responded to her post focused more on smoking than she did. I can see both sides. DH and I don't smoke, but several of the older people in my family do. Nicotine is a physical addiction and if you aren't used to long periods of time between cigarettes, your mood is going to be affected. I can see a smoker (especially an older person) who has been to WDW in the past being surprised and not too happy with the change. If you know ahead of time, you can have nicotine patches and gum with you. Maybe her post will help fellow smokers be better prepared for their trip.
I am glad about the reduction in smoking areas. Mainly because when my DD smells smoke she says far too loudly "MOM why does it smell so bad?!" and it's really embarrassing lol. She is rarely around cigarette smoke so she doesn't even realize that is what it is.
The water thread was funny, like yes let's just cover up all bodies of water in Florida and see how that goes...

My 4 year old has told smokers that her look inside your body book told her that smokers have black lungs. I was like omg you don't say that to people!
I was particularly annoyed when I was nursing DD (6 years ago) and kept seeing all these perfect shady spots to sit and relax but....they were reserved for smokers.

There is so much crazy in that post. Should anyone be shocked at this point that Disney is expensive and crowded? I saw many people bringing their own sandwiches and snacks in with them when we were there, so you can get around the food issue if money is a problem. And smoking? No, sorry. Two areas are fine. I mean....people can't smoke in enclosed malls any more and in restaurants in most states. This shouldn't be a surprise.
Also, when kids are being rude to me or obnoxious in the pool, I have no qualms about addressing them directly.
