My girls LOVE HS. We do lunch at Hollywood and Vine and meet the Disney Jr Characters. DD1 does Jedi Training Academy. They love Toy Story Midway Mania and the Frozen sing a long. They love to meet the star wars characters. Disney Jr Live is a cute show. Plus now Olaf is there!
(My girls were 4 and 2 last trip and will be turning 5 and 3 during our trip in October)
We spend a day there, no more. My kids (5, 2) really like Toy Story Mania, the Disney Jr. show, the Beauty and the Beast show, and my oldest is a daredevil and likes the Tower of Terror and Star Tours. The Frozen Singalong is awesome, too! All the new Star Wars stuff is really neat. Our HS days are definitely not as fast-paced as MK days but it's kind of nice.
To give you an idea, our trip next week is 6.5 park days. We are spending 1.5 days at Epcot, 1 day at HS, 1.5 days at AK, and the rest of the time at MK (plus a Disney Springs evening and pool time).
We went and even with DD liking Disney Jr we wouldn't go back. We did lunch at Hollywood and Vine which was nice. We also watched some shows but that's it.
Also, if your kids like Disney Junor characters I would suggest maybe doing an early Hollywood and Vine breakfast (like before park opening). Then you can spend some time doing Toy Story, Disney Jr., Frozen sing along, and if you're done by lunch, you can always boat over to Epcot (assuming you have park hoppers).
The nice thing about Hollywood Studios, IMO, is that it's not overwhelming in the sense that Magic Kingdom and Epcot can be simply because there aren't as many rides, and the shows let you sit down and take a break in (mostly) air conditioned spaces. It's a great park for a day when you want to take things slowly, especially if your kids won't be interested in any of the Star Wars offerings.

You could do it on the morning of a pool/rest day. If your FP Toy Story, you could sleep in and not rush over. Nothing else other then Toy Story and Jedi Training sign up are a rope drop necessity. (since your kids won't be tall enough for Rock n Rollercoaster)
We like to get there before rope drop. We were able to get 9 things done in the first hour (Olaf, Mickey/Minnie, Chip/Dale, Great Movie ride, Star Tours with rider swap and more). Around 1-2pm we leave for a midday break and then return for the evening stuff. My DD doesn't really like Star Wars, but my DH does and it was worth going just for his enjoyment. There was still plenty my daughter and I liked. We were just there on a Saturday in early June
For us it is a 1/2 day park. Maybe when the new stuff opens we might spend more time there. We always get park hoppers to have flexibility to pick and choose parks.
I definitely think it's a full day park with young kids. There are so many shows that are a hit with that age, tons of characters to visit and fun rides for parents.
With kids this young, what do you really consider a "full day?" I had no idea about Hollywood Studios, but we went and it was a full day for our young ones (but this means like 9am-2 or 3pm in my world). I was shocked at how much my kids LOVED all the shows there. Disney Jr, Ariel, Frozen Sing Along, etc. It was awesome to have a park that felt more relaxed.
