The boys are eating 4-5oz at a time, once a day. I think it's time to add another solids feeding and we'll probably do it at "lunch," their 11 o'clock feeding. We should do solids and follow up with bottles, right?
My other question is about when you start things like puffs and small pieces. SIL said she started puffs at 5 months but that seems so early. They're doing much better w purees but still push accidental chunks out. Should we wait until they start "chewing" the chunks? Or is there like a set time when you should start more chunky things so they get used to it?
I'm just confused -- not totally nervous, just confused.
I just stuck one in there and saw what happened lol. He took to them like he should have been eating them the whole time.
What I like best about giving him puffs is that it keeps him occupied while I prep his cereal. But IDK, I don't think they are worth the price. A friend gave me a couple containers of them so that's why he's eating them but when they run out, he's getting cheerios. They are a good starter for teaching them how to eat that kind of food because of how they dissolve.
I offer the solids first and usually finish with some juice because he gets so constipated otherwise. We did rice for a while but yeah, not good with the diaper action. I started oatmeal yesterday and he likes it. We'll see how it continues.

I give him solid meals in between feedings. Give puffs when you are feel comfortable. The new texture will probably really throw them off and they may gag a bit at first. I really feel that feeding solids is a follow your gut kind of thing so do what works for you guys.
We pretty much stopped trying the cereal. They just didn't like it. I'll talk w the pedi about it at their next appt but I'm not too worried anymore. I figure the fruits/veggies give a lot of the nutrition, plus the formula. Oatmeal is a good idea though. Baby oatmeal or like.......regular Quaker stuff?
