When to put in a request for DVC points rental??

I'm looking at renting DVC from David's for the first time for Oct 2017 (7 nights).  My first choice is a standard Poly studio or standard at BWV or BC.  Since this will be during Food and Wine I'm thinking these will go instantly--- so question--

Do I submit my request on exactly the date of 11 months out from check in?  Or do I submit it the day before and they will tell me availability once it opens up? 

Last question- anyone know if I can use Barclay Card Arrival + points towards a DVC rental?

We submitted at 11 months but they didn't find us anything until 7 months. There was availability they just didn't have rental points to use until 7 months opened up.

Which means we did not get our first or second resort choice but we wanted a 2 bedroom which I don't think there are as many of.

I would contact them like a month before so they can start trying to get someone who has points ahead of time.
