I hope!
We live in a large complex, but our area of it is off the street (technically, we are on a private road). Along with being away from the rest of the complex (which is really nice, feels more private), our parking is really limited. Each unit gets an assigned carport and then there are two non-assigned carports that the developer was trying to sell a while back (the people who live right by these always hog them) and then 7 free spots which are first come first served between 22 units. Needless to say, it's rare to find one of these "free" spots. There is a three day limit, but people who have cars that they don't drive regularly will just rotate from one free spot to another. We use both of our vehicles almost every day, but we are guilty of hogging the free spots on the weekends, too. If there is no parking, we have to park in a different section of the complex. No big deal in the summer, but it can really suck when it's raining or cold or you have to go to the bathroom.
ANYWAY, last week, there was a flier posted from the developer that those two non-assigned carports are being sold. I'm kind of barfy about the $, but one of the spots is in front of our building...the other end of our building, but still, our building. Very close. And we are going to buy it!! I just put the check in the mail.
In addition to being awesome for us, I think this is really going to work in our favor when we do decide to put our condo on the market. We have always said that parking was going to be a hinderance for us when going to sell but now we will have two assigned carports. I don't know that someone is going to be like, "Oh, two carports, let's buy it," but I can see someone saying, "I don't want to buy it, there is no parking."
Thats cool - what does a something like this go for? If you don't want to share exact numbers - feel free to give a range or like 10% of your house value! :-) Plus you get to enjoy it!
Great idea! The extra parking space would be a deal breaker for us. Not just for personal use, but like guest parking. We have people at our place almost every day.
