Out of curiosity, which genres have people written? I tried to do it alphabetically but forgot comedy. I added fan fiction, poetry, and nonfiction/memoir as their own genres.
Feel free to let us know a bit about the ones you have attempted. I'm also curious if there is something you would like to try but haven't yet.
OMG I can't believe I forgot that! My excuse is that "Y" is at the end of the alphabet, because there is no other reasonable explanation. It's one of the genres *I* have written.
My Nano novels are always fantasy, except one year that I did SciFi. That one was such a bad novel, in retrospect. Lol I'm much better at fantasy.
The first half of my sci-fi attempt was good. The second half was a pacing and plotting nightmare.
As for me, I have done 3 YA historicals (2 were also romance, the other was based on the Titanic), the previously mentioned sci-fi, and a bunch in a fantasy world. Plus a couple random fan fics during camps.
I mostly write all YA, but the sub-genres inside that vary. I've done some paranormal, mainstream/contemporary (I'm kind of counting dystopian in mainstream), action/adventure (also kind of counting my dystopians in here too), and am currently trying my hand at historical. Who knows, maybe I'll try writing romance someday -- my critique partner would get a kick out of that.
