I love capris. In all honesty, I think they are most flattering on tall, thin people, but I continue to wear them even though I am 5'5" and plus size. Whatever. I like them.
I am trying to imagine why capris wouldn't be fashionably acceptable. I practically live in them in the spring/summer, although I am going to try shorts more this year. But I freakin' love capris! Not shorter than mid-to-lower calf. I guess I prefer more "cropped pants" than "capris." But I call anything that's not shorts and not pants "capris."

I do not like the ones that are higher than mid-calf, as I don't think there is anyone they are flattering on. I do wear capris that are more of a cropped length, however, all summer long. FTR, I am relatively tall and wear a size 14.
A true capri? No, not a fan. But I do love my cropped pants which are a bit above my ankles. Oh, and I am not tall at all; I am 5'5" but have short legs.

Depends on the pants. I am perfectly fine with a cropped dress pant of any "length". I prefer longer rather than right below the knee, but any could be acceptable. The capris I don't like are the casual ones that people wear with tennis shoes and stuff. They always end up looking "dumpy" to me. I would post a pic for you if I knew how to do that!

That was exactly what I was thinking. The right kind of capris are totally acceptable. But there's a limit to how high up the calf a pant can go before it reaches unfashionable territory.
I'm going to say not out because it seems that it really depends on the style and cut of the capris. I saw really cute ones in ATL this past weekend. They didn't look like the capris of 1999. Maybe if you are 20 years old they aren't the height of fashion, but I'm 40 so I don't give a sh*t.
I like the ones that are more slim fitting. Otherwise, they look kind of dumpy (I have a dumpy pair...I really need to go shopping). But yeah, at my age, I don't do shorts anymore unless I'm working out. It's not a good look.
But lol at the pants abortion. He might be right about that. But i think seeing my cellulite might be worse though, so pants abortion it is.
