Can a TA take over my reservation if I've made it on my own?
I found super cheap flights, but it would require us to move our trip from 12/10 - 12/15 to 12/11 - 12/16.
I just called Disney and there's apparently no availability at ANY of the moderate resorts on the 15th. She tried to get me to upgrade to AKL for $2k more.
How is there no availability when crowd levels are predicted to be super light that week? The woman I talked to told me that I should just keep calling back and hope for a cancellation. NOT COOL

I'm not Amy, but are you booked with a discount code?
If not, just make a new reservation and cancel the old one. I just did a search for the 11-16 on disney's website and found plenty of moderate availability. Disney has made rules now about not allowing you to change the dates of your current reservation unless it fits all this criteria. Its basically to stop people from booking a 2 week trip and then cancelling half after figuring out what days they want out of the trip.

Whoever you talked to is full of shit! Your new dates are all showing up as available on WDW website. The only thing that might be causing them to tell you that there is no availability is if you have some promo package.

No. We went with free dining - it was a much better discount.

That's why. Free dining only has a certain amount of rooms for the discount. Once stuff is booked, that's it. They only allow a select amount of rooms to be booked with it.
So unless you made your reservation within the last 30 days you can't transfer them to a TA
you won't be able to change your reservation and still get the free dining - it's no longer bookable - my guess is that's what she meant.
If you are ok with booking without free dining, just cancel your existing reservation and start new, you won't have to deal with as many issues with bad phone TAs (unless you are ok with calling back and trying for a better one)
I just did a search for those dates and see multiple moderates, call back and try again.

Ugghhhh.
Well, thanks for responding! I did some research and flights to keep our dates would only be $150 more than the cheap flights, but still cheaper than what I had initially budgeted.
I think paying the $150 extra at this point would be worth not having to redo all of the planning I've done so far. lol

Yeah you'll be limited on what you can get dining wise - I'd stay for $150
