Yes! Eggs are the best way to get Pokemon that are not in your area. I hatched my first egg (a 2km egg) today and got a Jigglypuff, which I've never see before.

Be aware, the app has to be running in order to track your steps, to count toward your egg-hatching distance. Since the game uses battery and data, I only leave it running when I know I'm going to be doing a lot of walking, like the park or grocery shopping. I don't leave it on if I'm just puttering around the house. I also put the game on battery saver mode, which I described in this thread on page 1, if you're not familiar with it.

I have 2 eggs going right now.

When you hold down the pokeball, a colored ring will appear around the Pokemon. Green means easy to catch, orange intermediate, red hard. I caught a orange-ring metapod yesterday. Wait until the ring is the smallest before throwing the pokeball. You'll have a better chance of the Pokemon staying in.

What's the difference between the HP of a Pokemon and its CP? I know CP is combat power. Which is more important?

CP is like attack power for battling, I think. HP is health points, it's how many hits the Pokemon can take before it faints. So ideally you wang both to be high.

I'm level 8 team mystic. I haven't tried a gym yet. I did go walking the shopping district with a friend Wednesday and that ass fun. We live by water so I've found lots of magi carp

This article is true of any online-based game though. So when Temple Run and Fruit Ninja were huge a few years ago. At least Pokemon Go is getting people off their asses and walking around. Meeting new people. I've gotten more exercise in the last week than any week in the previous month, at least. And I'm having fun. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Bumping the thread. Anyone play this weekend? I got 1.5 hours kid free, I walked over 2km, hatched 2 eggs (a Voltorb and a Ekans!), and mostly excitingly finally caught enough Eevee's to evolve one and got a Jolteon! He's currently my strongest at 578cp. I also went from level 9 to 11. At the end of my walk I got a sugary snack and drink, and plopped at a park bench where two pokestops overlapped. I used a lucky egg to get double xp, put lures on both pokestops, and enjoyed my snack while I catch about a Pokemon a minute

DH and I started playing on Thursday. We took DD to the park this morning for an hour and hit the pokestops and caught a few new pokemon. We drove around and hit a few more places while DD napped then went downtown and walked around for 30 minutes after she woke up.

So basically we played all morning. I am lvl 7, no team yet because I haven't been to a gym. I'm hoping to hatch my two eggs in progress still today.

I didn't play much over the weekend, but I was only a few hundred XP from level 9 tonight so I threw down an incense to get there.

My 5 km egg should hatch on the way to work tomorrow. Excited!

Neat! Let me know what you get! I have a 5km egg that will hatch today while I walk around the big grocery store. I hope it's something good!

I've discovered the key to leveling up is evolving + a lucky egg. A lucky egg gives you double xp for 30 minutes. AND you get 500xp every time you evolve a Pokemon, even if you already have that type before. And you don't need any stardust to evolve! So I save up my garage Pokemon and their candies (like pidgey, who only needs 12 candies, or caterpie or Weedle). Pop a lucky egg, and evolve several at once. I did that just now, evolved 5 crap Pokemon and 1 good one (female nindoran into nidorina) and got 7,000xp just sitting on my couch! Got me to level 12 and almost halfway to 13!

Gyms will change hands frequently, so don't pick based on who controls your local gym right now.

If you want to battle and use gyms, you might actually want a less common team since you gain more experience attacking enemy gyms.

If you're not sure if you'll battle much, just pick your favorite. That's how I ended up team blue.

I played at the GTG, too! Not much because I kept having connection issues, but I was really only concerned with restocking pokeballs because DD loves to play but has terrible aim, and we don't have very many pokestops near us.

swizz I must have used 5 razz berries and just as many great balls to catch a 230cp Wild Eevee this morning. That's the highest level I've seen in the wild so far. I was like STAY IN THE DAMN BALL so I can evolve you later!!

I caught a 232 and a 229 this morning. I've gotten some good stuff out of the Pokestop lures people are setting on my office today!

Since I SAH I rarely go anywhere with pokestops or gyms, so playing is hard I was so excited that my grocery store (Wegmans) is a pokestop, so I put a lure on it while I shopped today. Two lures in succession and I got mostly crap. So many rattatas and pidgeys. Aside from the Eevee I mentioned and a 259 Paras that I'm going to evolve. I think bug/grass will be a good combo.

Yeah I find incense doesn't work as good as I'd hoped. I usually get 3-6 in the 30 minutes, and rarely anything good. A lure on a pokestop is what usually brings the good ones.

I saw that. I didn't have a lucky egg until this morning, and I already had all my little guys evolved because I was bored last night. I'm saving them up next time though!

swizz can you screenshot your Pokemon lineup for me? I'd love to see. Here's mine. I hate Raticate, it's so ugly but I catch so.many.rattatas I keep evolving them.

Very nice swizz! Do you live near a lake or something, I see you've got a bunch of water Pokemon. I have very few. Since I live in the forest I get rattatas and pidgeys. And kudos on that Dratini!

What would your ideal 6 lineup be? If you could have anything. I'd like:

Electric, Jolteon
Ground, sandshrew eventually sandslash (my fav from the game as a kid. The best ground type I think!)
Water, Seel eventually dewgong
Fire, I'd love a growlithe
Rock, Rhydon
And a scyther

What ill actually probably get (eventually):
Jolteon
Flareon
Polywhirl
Golbat
Clefable
And a fucking Raticate, blech.
