It's hit or miss. I got that Scyther in my house with incense but I've used it and literally gotten NOTHING before.

I tend to get better Pokemon near gyms/stops but I'm not sure there's any legitimacy to that.

SHUT UP you got that scyther in your house?!? With incense?!? Now I'm even more jealous. What time of day? I'm wondering if it works better at different times. If I use it in the evening/nighttime I get nada.

@supergreen, I've heard 4-6 is average for incense, and that's about what I get. I've gotten a couple less common Pokemon with incense but mostly it's just common ones.

Rename them to Sparky (Jolteon), Rainer (Vaporeon), Pyro (Flareon) and it forces the evolution. I have Sparky and Pyro waiting for enough candies, lol. 

Ok, so I just evolved the Eevee I knock named Pyro. But the name still says Pyro. Did i do something wrong? I'm so confused. I've always sucked at video games.

Nope! That's a Flareon you just have to rename him (the changed name sticks even though he evolved).

Yay! I see it now. I checked my Pokedex and you're right. Name changed!

I just started last night and only on level 3. I wanted to do it with the kids. There is a gym immediately behind my house and lots of stops at the park 2 blocks away. I have no idea what anything is and am way too old to have played as a kid, but still seems fun to do with my kids. I introduced them to mine craft too...bad influence

I read something that if you're moving at a quick pace, incense is more effective. But what you're reporting is how it works for me too.

I read that last night too. So I guess I'll use incense while walking around. But dammit I want to play at home in my Pokemon barren wasteland. I've been PAYING for incenses so they'll come to my house!!

swizz I had about 0.05 left on my 5km egg yesterday, so when I left the grocery store I drove like 5mph the long way around the parking lot to get to the traffic light to hatch it :-P DS was like "mooom WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" LOL.

I just used an incense while folding laundry and got 6. Mostly garbage Pokemon, BUT I caught a 363cp Eevee! That's the highest cp Pokemon I've seen in the wild so far! 3 more candies closer to my Flareon.

swizz and whoever asked in the other thread (kategm?) I read online that the reason gyms are full of vaporeans is because it's the strongest Pokemon you can reasonably get in the game. There are a handful of stronger ones, like snorlax and lapras, but they're much harder to find/hatch than just evolving an Eevee. And apparently vaporean has the highest HP in the game, so it can take a lot of hits while battling.

I finally got enough candy to evolve an Eevee and tried to get evolve my 175CP Eevee. Got message "due to an unknown error could not evolve Eevee." Now it's gone. Fuck you Pokemon go. Just fuck you.

I quit today.

Okay, I played a 1060 Clefairy with 740 Flareon and 687 Vaporeon. ALLLLMOST won with Vaporeon and got my ASS whooped with Flareon. 

Good job almost beating it! My 520 Jolteon held on agains a 720 Vaporean for awhile, got him down about 2/3 of his HP. The battle kept telling me "very effective!" (Electric versus water), but not good enough LOL.

I'm getting tired of catching crap Pokemon. I ran errands around town today, walking between stores when I could. Never once did an even reasonably interesting Pokemon come up in my nearby screen. All pidgeys, Weedle, rattata, and caterpie. I wasted 6 poke balls and finally a great ball on a damn 74 spearow! Just to get the stardust and candies. I'm level 13! How high of a level do I have to get before I catch something interesting? Like a fairy or dragon type, or rock or ground or fire? ANYTHING but normal or bug! Is it my town that's the problem?

It might be your area? But also, I think it's just a bit of luck and being in the right place at the right time.

I just hit level 13, and while I mostly get the pidgeys, weedles, and rattatas, I get more interesting ones also. I get a lot of drowsee which I don't mind because they help level up my hypno.

Yeah I don't get a lot of anything useful, to level up anything. I'm excited if I see an Eevee I'm really hoping to catch a few more Paras so I can evolve one into Parasect, and work on leveling him up. That's the best I've got. Harrumph.

@supergreen ,I was thinking of you. I used an incense at lunch in my house. I caught a Evee, Poliwag, and two pidgeys. I caught a Clefairy too but it escaped!

I feel like what is most at my house is bug and water types (I live w/in walking distance to a creek/river) so I guess that is why? Assuming there is logic

swizz there's a lake in a park near my house. I hope to make it out there soon. It's really hard b/c I have both kids 24/7. DS won't just talk a walk with me, and DD is too young for me to half-ignore her on the playground. So playing at home or in parking lots is the best I get. I'm hoping DH will give me an hour or two kid-free this weekend to play like he did last weekend.
