Don't do it! It is really crowded and not a very pleasant experience. We used to go up Thanksgiving weekend and stopped going in 2008 when it just got way too crowded to enjoy the park. We now go the 2nd weekend of December; the park is still busy with it isn't a total madhouse.
If you can swing the week before Thanksgiving or any midweek span in December the park wont be that crowded. If you don't really care about holiday decorations the first half of November is pretty quiet.

We ARE doing it. I hate that it will be busy, but it is the only time both H and I have off from work, and it's sort of important that we make a new Thanksgiving memory for the family.
Right now it is overshadowed by H's dad's passing, 8 years ago.
So if you go and are looking for someone there at the same time, tag me:)

Bummer! I don't care about decorations. We live in SoCal, this isn't a once in a lifetime trip but it will be dd (5yo) first time. lala Are you doing Disneyland all five days or is that the time you will be in SoCal?
lexus, - we are in Disneyland the 12-17th then San Diego the 17-23rd.
That weekend we arrive (we get to the sheraton on the 12th but move over to the Grand Californian on the 13th and that's our first park day) is a marathon weekend, so I anticipate it being a little busy that weekend.
Even if the decorations aren't important to you, I will say there is nothing like Disney at christmas! Are you working around school schedules or what?

I had to use all but one sick day for my maternity leave at the end of the school year. I earn another day at the end of each month but idk what I will use with a little one in daycare and dd starting kindergarten. Dh has plenty of PTO so we are just trying to work around my school schedule. I have the whole week of Thanksgiving off. Let me know if you want to meet up!

Were going to disney world at thanksgiving. ItS not my first choice but it was all I could work out. I'm going through a divorce and my parents suggested doing something fun.
I know it will be crowded but it will still be fun. I survived Christmas morning at the magic kingdom a few years ago so I figure I can handle anything!
It is a pretty special time to be there. When we lived in CA we used to go to Disneyland every year on Thanksgiving, because it was so Christmas-y and festive, but we had AP so there was no pressure to do everything.
Even though it was crowded, we still got to ride more than we expected...or maybe we just had low expectations so it was a pleasant surprise when the lines weren't quite as crazy as we expected. ;p

We did WDW over thanksgiving last year and it was fine. We usually go mid-August, so we are used to crowds. It wasn't anymore crowded than summertime and not as hot, so it was enjoyable.
