Hi!!
Lots going on in my world lately since March. DH is still unemployed (don't get me started - but we have his severance package and are okay financially for now), the house has been painted on the inside, one side of fence has been replaced (more to come), and DD will be going back to preschool in a month.
I'm hoping DH will have a job in a few months (PLEASE), so I'd like to plan something for us, like a long weekend away on the coast or something to recharge our batteries. I've been working a lot to get overtime, taking care of the house (though DH does a majority of it now since he's home), and it's been a really long time since we've gone somewhere as a family without DH's family with us, and we could really use it.
Any suggestions? We're okay with Ocean Shores, Westport, etc. Nothing too extravagant, and we don't want to do Great Wolf Lodge or anything.
Thanks, ladies. I'll try to keep up more over here. I just can't tear myself away from CEP, though - this election is killing me.
Check into Seabrook! Its north or ocean shores, the beaches are less crowded which is much nicer in my opinion. Ocean shores is way to crowded. It is its own little town, way cute. Or if you want to stay on the beach, we stayed at a place called Sandpiper Beach Resort. Its a little dated in design but its like a 2 minute walk to the beach, its a 3 minute drive up to Seabrook, where you can do a sit down meal or I believe most rooms at sandpiper have little kitchens.
We got a VRBO house in Longbeach area. It was nice and right on the beach. Quiet, hot tub, some deer walked be the property both days we were there. I can send you the link if you want.
Kalaloch and Ruby Beach are my childhood favorites! There were not a lot of people there when we went and you can camp or there are cabins. Also it is pet friendly
Further down the coast is Cannon Beach and there is a cheap campground there Wrights for Camping or something like that

We just did a trip up to Vancouver by train and it was awesome! H planned it (as a surprise) so I don't know all the details, but overall it was inexpensive and the view on the train was amazing along the coast.
ETA: I also like the Clipper and Victoria is fun too
