Well they don't have live singers anymore and dance party anymore at H&V breakfast/lunch. I'm cancelling our reservation for November and we'll just meet Sofia and Doc at HS.
I'd do Cape May because its so close to you and cheaper!
We only do breakfasts at buffets but it's been fine. We are going again soon, and while I'm disappointed the dance parties have gone away, I love PPO breakfasts, DD wants to meet Sofia and Jake and Doc, and it will help for Jedi Training signup for DS.
The food was bad, the place wasn't clean, the made me wait like 30 minutes to go over the allergens on buffet for DS & he was starving so I just got him fruit while we waited & then the manager was like " he really shouldn't have eaten until I told you what was safe."
I r/n am saying never again, but if DD is obsessed with a character there in a few years I will probably cave & give it a second chance. I was there in January.
I will never do H&V again. We went in May for lunch and the food was meh (buffet) and it was our most expensive meal of our entire trip (more than CRT or BOG breakfasts).
And now that they don't even do character interactions anymore? Nope!
We had a great character interaction at the Minnie dinner at H&V. We were there in January for the Oscars themed dinner. The food was better than I anticipated and the costumes were a lot of fun.
I haven't had breakfast or lunch there in years, so I can't speak to that, but we did enjoy the dinner.

I KNOW this meal is going to suck but I'm still doing it because DD wants to meet Sofia. If you get the dining package with Fantasmic maybe that will soften the blow?
I know there is no dance party but they do interact with the kids right?

Yes they do interact (hug, sign autographs, pose). If your main goal is to meet Sofia, you may just want to do the meet and greet across the park, which has photo pass photographers and a nicer background.
I like the F! package but we always do it at Mama Melrose because we don't care for lunch/dinner buffets (other than Biergarten).
I was not a fan of H & V. You can meet Sofia, Doc, and Jake in the Disney Jr. Courtyard. They have cute backdrops, too, so it actually makes for better pictures. The only exclusive character at H & V is Handy Manny. Cape May sounds fun.
