This is a hard one because, like mascara, everyone has a different one that works for them. I prefer Jordana's 12 hour WP eye shadow stick. I recently got a sample of a MJ eyeliner and that worked really well too.
Stila waterproof eyeliner pen is my quick go to and I can use it for winged/cat eye too. The Laura Mercier tightline cake liner with the flat brush give the best results but it's just a little fussier of a process
I loved Laura mercier cake liner when the sealant was available. Her tightline brush is my absolute favorite though, MUFE has a close second brush. I have returned Bobbi brown long wear eyeliner. I know it's a popular choice, but I don't understand the love. I also returned nars eye paint. I do prefer gel eyeliners in a pot and I can just kind of "stamp" it on the tightline. My favorites are tarte waterproof clay eyeliner, Laura mercier creme liner, and Clinique has a really good gel liner. I am not a pencil girl, but if it comes in a jar I have probably tried it.
I tightline but I don't put it in my waterline so I can't comment on whether or not it will work for you - but I do use Kat VonD tattoo liner and it's the only thing that has never smudged on me ever.
I also use the KVD tattoo liner and a gel liner to tightline. My go-to gel liner is MAC, but I have heard surprisingly good things about the ELF gel liner and the gel liner from...maybe Loreal?
Thanks for the recommendations! I think part of the reason mine was smearing so badly is because I was lining the waterline. I tried again just right below the lash line (which was so much harder than it looked like it would be based on youtube videos) and it didnt smear as much. I am interested in the Laura Mercier cake liner though and also the Maybelline liner that was recommended.
Yes, for tightlining you're really trying to basically fill in the spaces BETWEEN the lashes so it thickens the appearance of your lashline. It takes a little practice but then it's second nature. The Stila or other pen liners you brush or dab on and the LM is more of a stamping action as someone described it.
