I'm disappointed I wasted a good interview outfit today. My interview is rescheduled to tomorrow and I have another Thursday so two more days this week I have to look presentable! Lol
Lands End Ponte sheath dress and old old old Maurices blazer.
I had planned on using my dslr but the settings are off and everything looks blue. So no outfit today but I thought I would do a product psa.
II picked up two Woolrich, down filled vests for $25 each at Sam's They look identical to the Jcrew ones. I got the navy and kakhi? But they also had a pretty red. Was really tempted to get the red too bc Sam's never has anything my size and these fit awesome but the idea of spending $75 on vests kind of made my stomach churn. Ha.
ETA: Speaking of vests, I thought it was so stupid when bloggers wore vests over denim jackets. I was watching Back to the Future the other day and realized they must have copied Marty's lifevest outfit.

Oooh, nice! Can we get a pic of them on? (I hope that's not a weird request - if so ignore me!)

Not weird at all. I had wanted to take a pic last night but I was dealing with an oncoming migraine. So I took these and then crawled into bed. I will take some pics and post tonight.
Skirt Ann Taylor; Cardigan J Crew; Necklace Stella and Dot; bracelets from my mom. I don't own any navy pumps, but pretend I'm wearing these ones below that I just ordered. (Which I think will match better in person.)

That's disappointing - and it would mentally throw me off. Good luck tomorrow!
Here you go ohgillian . Itook a pic of both vests front, side and zipped.
DS just asked me why I kept putting on 'those 60's clothes'. Omg I died. Ha.
Thanks! It looks great and I like it a lot. I think one of my Amex has a free Sam's club membership offer right now that I've been ignoring. Or maybe it's a day-pass. I'll check and see.
I feel pretty put together today! These are the new pants you guys helped me with. I feel so much more polished in them than I did in the flare-cut black pants that I'd been wearing forever. I did forget to change into my work pumps before I took a pic, so these are my crappy condition commuting shoes.
Constructive criticism welcome. Different necklace? Some other way to make this a less boring outfit while still within my general classic/tailored style? I'm wearing a new patent skinny belt but I don't think you can see it.

Pinspiration vs sad reality. What's wrong here? Do these pants just not fit, like all my others? That's probably the case, since I'm learning all of my old pants didn't fit. Wrong color of pants?
ohgillian I think your take is pretty close to the inspiration, but the pockets on your pants stick out a little. The pants in the inspiration pictures have a smoother silhouette and appear more fitted in the hips and thighs. It also kind of looks like your top and sweater are the same length. In both inspiration pictures, they are different lengths - in one pic the cardi is shorter, and in the other longer. It creates more visual interest.
Taking a staycation so I've been living in shorts and rompers. But I did go get my hair colored yesterday. It's finally starting to look the way I had envisioned when I started this process a year ago.
I just went to SAMS and bought a cute swing sweater for 16 dollars ... I can't find it on-line but it might be my new favorite sweater. I bought leopard print and I may go back and get a solid gray AND get one of those vests !

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. I knew there was a pants problem, but the bolded is a really helpful observation that never would have occurred to me. I actually had the shirt pinned up at the shoulders b/c I thought it fell too low and I haven't gotten it to the tailor yet. So I will try this outfit again, modified. Thanks!
