I was so excited when my order from Kelly's Closet arrived today... Then I opened the package & realized I made a mistake when I ordered. It's not worth it to return because I'll have to pay shipping, boo.
oh yeah, it's definitely more girly. my h wouldn't be happy about carrying around the second one with a boy haha. whenever i'm buying "gender neutral" stuff, i always ask my h if he'd feel comfortable carrying that with our son, even though we have a dd. otherwise, i consider it girly!
well, fingers crossed that you get to swap! does she have the geo one you want?

She's checking to see if she can get it, I also gave her two other print options. Hopefully with 3 choices she'll be able to find one so we can swap.
Have you started cds yet? We are planning to start on Sunday...although it may end up being Tuesday. We still have to wash everything & IL's are visiting this weekend.
yup! we started yesterday. i changed her adorable bum 3 times, and this morning at 5am, i showed my MIL how to snap/unsnap (rocket science, i know).
i only have 15 right now, and about 10 more coming through a co-op, so i'm not sure when that'll be. i think i'll need to wash daily right now so that they'll dry in time. my plan was to wash every other day..
i would wash yours *now*, as soon as you get home! starting a load of laundry is quick. then take 5 mins to hang them to dry..and you can start sooner. go-go-go!
6 times?? my h would go apesht about how much water was being used to wash those diapers.
glad that you got your situation fixed! and yay that you have someone awesome in your group. she could've easily just ordered the print she wanted, and left you to dry..but she's going out of her way to swap with you. how sweet of her.
7 of the new are BG's...which apparently you're supposed to wash & dry 6 times before using...oye.
You can toss them in with towels or other laundry as long as you use CD safe detergent (and no fabric softener) to save water.
Somebody with more experience might want to weigh in on this, but I wash natural fibers twice on their own (or with towels) to get the oils off and then just start throwing them in with dirty diapers for the rest of the washes to get through the prepping process faster (since I wash diapers 3x/week vs 1x/week for towels). I don't know for sure how many washes it takes to get the oils all the way off, but I haven't had problems doing it this way so far.
ETA: Glad to hear that you can get the print you wanted!
I know, I really want to start soon! I'm hoping to do at least one load tonight/tomorrow. We have about 25 diapers now...15 used & 10 new.

Wait, what? Which BGs do you have? If it's the BGEs, then you can just wash 2-3 times and know they won't be fully prepped until the have been worn a few times. Usually I prep diapers with towels/sheets/baby clothes first 1-2 times. Then I throw them in with the dirty dipes once and use.

Yep, this. Other than prefolds, I have never done anymore prep to my dipes than just one wash through. No matter the brand, colors, etc. I've never had a problem, and just know that they won't reach their full absorbancy potential until they have gone through the wash a few more times. But I've never had any trouble!
