Gah! Zoe's sitter does this too and it drives me nuts. I don't want Zoe to pick it up. I haven't said anything to her because I am the most nonconfrontational chicken out there. I figure if she is 25 years old and says that, me correcting her probably won't do much at this point, lol! It's like nails down a chalkboard for me though.
Lol Lauren you're so funny. I wish you were around more I wouldn't say anything but H would, without a doubt. If he liked you. Otherwise he wouldn't bother. He's good at making friends like that .
Oh gawd. I thought that was a northern thing. There's no point in correcting her; if she hasn't learned it yet, she's not going to. You could try repeating her with emphasis, "Oh you SAW that?"

That drives me nuts. And correcting her probably won't do much. I used to work with someone who constantly used double negatives, and although I tried not to, sometimes a correction would slip out. It never made any difference, she just went right on using them.

Yeah, this particular CW is perfectly well spoken except for that one problem! That's why I'm thinking that some day I need to help her out and correct her. Because she sounds so normal until she says "I seen". And she's nearing 50 so I guess it would be a difficult habit for her to break.
Another CW uses the double negatives out of nowhere. She's another one who sounds perfectly intelligent until out of the blue she'll say "we don't carry that particular brand no more." I'm like WHAT??
I would repeat it back to her like Kate said, however, as others have said it probably won't do any good at this point. I have a friend that says, "I need to bath my child, dog, etc" vs "I need to bathe my child..." and she was in her 40's, she is very well spoken except for that. I've tried to use the word bathe in a million and one sentences but she still says bath sometimes. I just cringe on the inside and try to let it go, lol
