We adopted a terrier mix a few weeks ago from a local rescue. He is so sweet and cute. We lurve him. However, I know terriers are chewers, but this guy is insane. In 3 weeks he has torn through, literally, EIGHT stuffed dog toys. He has other toys but these are his favorite. He loves to shake them and run around with them in his mouth, but he can completely destroy one in a day and leave cotton fluff all over the house.
So, does any one have a recommendation for a stuff-ish animal type toy that can take a beating?
We buy only tuffys (mydogtoy.com). While my dog can destroy them, they last wayyyyy longer. 2 we have actually had for a year now. Regular stuffed toys are gone in like 2.5 seconds.

Are you worried about him eating the stuffing? They make dog toys called Skinneeez that don't have any stuffing but still are soft and have squeakers. Some friends have had great luck with those.
We have two terriers. I'm surprised it's only 8. We buy the Tuffys, too, they do last much longer, but they don't like them as much. The thing is, they really love to destroy a stuffed animal. It's part of the fun. We just get the cheap toys, limit how often they get them, and supervise them while they go crazy. Then we clean up the stuffing and throw them away. We tried the stuffing-less toys, and they get ignored. They no there's no fun to be had there.
Thanks! Ill order a Tuffy and try it out but i imagine we'll be in the same position as Ejpint. Oscar just loves those cheap stuffed animals.
So cute! And I love the name Oscar!
Good luck - we just have to watch them, especially if the toy has a squeaker - they love to "kill" the squeak, and then end up chewing on the plastic once it's out. We move in pretty quickly to avoid any ingested plastic or stuffing, and it works for us.

Thanks! He actually came with that name from the rescue and it just suits him, so we kept it. Good thing it fit him or else we'd have another pet named after a Bond character (DH named our cats Domino and Moneypenny)
The big challenge for me now if teaching him how to differentiate between his toys and my kids toys

That's totally Davi... If a toy squeaks its like its a game, how fast can I kill the squeak in this one!

Second this, baby Beagle LOVES these. However he is able to destroy them eventually..he manages to pull the fuzzy part/fake hair off.
