We are just about to book flights from Toronto-Ft Lauderdale for January. We will have DS who will be 8 months old then.
Would you pay an extra $70 per person per flight (so $140 extra) for non-stop flights? I'm thinking YES. Its a difference of $650 (non stop there, 1 stop back) and $785 for non-stop both ways.
I'm just thinking it would be a huge PITA with a child in the airport. The extra $$ won't break the bank - we may drink less on our cruise (we are dropping the kid with the ILs in FL, thank you to whomever told us to ship the milk on land with dry ice).
We traveled with DD at 4 months & 11 mos (for perspective) and I actually enjoyed having the layover. It gave her time to "unwind." When she was 4 mos, we laid a blanket out for her so she could get some tummy/independent time, and when she was 11 mos, she "walked" around a bit. Also we could do a diaper change in a real bathroom.
We didn't have the option for direct, so I can imagine it would be easier, but there are advantages to the break, if you don't want to spend the $.
The non-stop flight is only 3hours and 9 minutes, so I'm thinking it might just be easiest to get it over with, KWIM? Although an 8 month old baby is certainly squirrely!! And it will be towards his bedtime - oh JOY.
The stopover would only be on the flight home, the flight there is direct. So I'm also thinking we will just want to get home.
We love South Florida! We actually own property in Delray Beach but we don't use it, we rent it out. We stay with my IL;s who are those dreaded Canadian snowbirds I promise they drive better than most. This time we are going to visit for a few days and then DH and i will hop on a short cruise out of either FLL or MIA.
Ya, that might be easier, especially if it is around sleep time. Hopefully he will sleep. If you have to stop, it may disrupt the schedule, and we know what that means
I am actually in Boynton, and we love Delray small world...

Hey - I totally forgot I posted over here, sorry! We love everything on Atlantic Ave, the down town area. City Oyster, Cut 432, Solita, Cupcake Couture (for cupcakes), Burgerfi, The Office... They just re-did Boston's on the beach, on A1A, and its so nice!! Senior Burrito for Mexican - best ever! Also Cafe Luna Rosa for brunch, oh and Vic and Angelos for brunch too, they have a bloody mary bar, with like 10-15 toppings!!
