Frontline will only kill them once they bite your dog. I found this out the hard way. Call your vet to see if you can double dose like that. And get a flea comb. I"m so sorry. My dog got fleas from a coworker who watched him for a few days. I felt like I was dealing with fleas for weeks. It was a nightmare but after 6 weeks, I was confident we were all flea free.
The vet can also give you capstar that will kill them within 24 hours but you'd still have to get something else. I'd check with vet before giving the pill. Also if you bathed him that quick after giving it to him it probably didn't have time to take full effect.
Fleas are tough- seeing them on a pet is a sign that an environment they spend time in is infested (pets aren't infested- they're just vessels of transfer and lunch). If he didn't pick them up elsewhere- you need to deal with your home and yard.
Nexgard uses a very new chemical and as we don't deal with fleas on a regular basis here, I don't know that it's safe to mix with anything else (I suspect it isn't). I do know that Capstar is generally considered safe with topicals- and it works great for situations where a pet has brought fleas home from the vet/boarder/park/whatever (the home isn't infested).
Two years ago my dog got fleas at the dog park, and 2 Frontline applications did not get rid of them. The poor thing was covered in live fleas. We tried Capstar, but 2 doses of that did nothing. Finally we went to the vet and were given Bravecto, an oral tablet. Within 24 hours she was no longer scratching and was much happier, and we haven't seen a flea since.
Definitely wash all dog bedding and vacuum all carpets diligently.

This brand legit kills. Legit.
Our rental has rabbits in the backyard and the dogs will pick up one or two sometimes while out and I just spray this on paper towel and the flea INSTANTLY dies. I've also bathed them in the shampoo.
I've sprayed this on our couches, carpet and dog bedding and nothing was stained.
I ended up giving him a NexGard tablet that day. He hasn't had any adverse reactions and I haven't seen a flea on him since, hooray! After I bathed him I washed all of his bedding and vacuumed and dumped the canister in the outside trash. I haven't seen any fleas in my house either.
He spends a lot of time in the backyard but we also walk a lot and often go to the dog park. So there is no telling where he picked them up. But clearly Frontline does not work for him.
