I switched because of work earlier this year (from a galaxy 5 to an iphone 6s). The back button bothered me for a bit, but you get used to finding it on the touchscreen eventually. You can get google maps (I haven't figured out how to set it as my default though...)
My biggest pet peeve was that there is no "apps" button to hide all your apps, so you can just have the ones you use regularly on the home screen (I have everything in folders so I only have one screen). But really, I didn't notice much of a difference. They do/are basically the same. Just make sure you get enough memory (lesson learned from an old LG phone I had before)
I have an iPad from work and an android phone (Galaxy S7 edge). I can't even tell you how much I prefer the Android.
They both have great features, I think it's really just personal preference.
Is it as weird as I think it will be to not have the back button?
I think it is, but I think others on here say you eventually adjust and get used to it. I'm going on 2 years with my iPad and I still haven't adjusted and gotten used to it! But to be fair, I switch between both platforms so that probably helps confuse me.
I also really like how I can add extra storage to my phone. I have an SD card in it and I put lots of apps there, so it frees room on my phone for other apps and 10 million pictures. I'm pretty sure you can't do that with an Apple.
Does the google maps voice command feature work on iPhone? Cause I'm pretty sure that I can't live without being able to shout at Google to start giving me directions when I'm driving and lost.
That says I like my iPad better than my android phone, but I like that my android phone is waterproof and only cost like $200...
I have had an android for years and switched to the iphone about 6 months ago. I greatly prefer. I find that it does not crash and apps do not crash as much, the battery is better, and it is just a better user experience. Everything I could do on my Samsung I can do on iphone. Android and iphone in general have the same standard apps. It has google maps, I can still upload my pictures to goo I like my iphone so much better. But I do think it is a personal preference.
And if you get the iphone consider the plus. At first I thought I would not like the bigger phone. But I love it. It is easier to read on my phone and do other things. It still fits in my pockets just fine.
H has an apple, I've always had android. My contract is up in a few weeks and I was considering switching, but after playing with his phone I'm sticking to android.

I love my iPhone. However, I wouldn't switch if I were you. H and I want to switch to Samsung but we just can't do it. Not because the iPhone is superior, but more so out of a fear of the unknown.
I'm honestly considering ditching my iPhone for a Galaxy in a few months. I was standing next to a guy with a Galaxy at swim lessons and the camera on it is far superior.

You can get those mom emojis only on iPhone. That's literally the first thing I've learned of that I'm interested in that isn't also available on Android. I switched around Christmas and have been happier on Android. But, I get not wanting to shop for an Android... I made DH do that part for me, otherwise I would have just gotten another iPhone.

The back button and SwiftKey keyboard were the main reasons I switched back to a Samsung after going back to iPhone for 13 days. And the ability to close multiple windows, better multitasking, better phone options, etc.
I honestly think it is what you are used to. I prefer my IPhone to the Galaxy I had previously because it is faster and I feel like it is more user friendly but that is probably because I have mostly had Apple products, and I have gotten used to their features. (I have had many different Apple computers and other products...).
What's this about not being able to close multiple windows on an iPhone? Hit the home button twice, up-swipe to close the windows. Or are you referring to something else?
I have never owned a Galaxy so I can't compare. My iPhone was the only phone I've ever had that lasted longer than 2 years. I have problems breaking things. I'm a simple person and I don't care about customizing a bunch of things so I'm not missing anything. My favorite thing about the iPhone is that the standard apps are easily shared with DH, who also has an iPhone. I don't need a special calendar app or a grocery list app. We share lists/calendars on the standard apps and it works great. Even with our MacBooks and iPads. If DH had a Galaxy or if we didn't use other apple products I probably wouldn't like the iPhone nearly as much. I'm unimpressed with the camera, but my phone is almost 4y old.
I don't get this back button talk? You swipe left to right in the iPhone, walla you've gone back a page.
DH has a Samsung and I hate it. It's not intuitive at all. I have a heck of a time finding the apps bc they're not on the home page a bunch of Samsung stuff is.
Also why on android can I not scroll to the top of the page with a double tap like the iPhone. That is a pita.
I love love love the galaxy, but its a little unfair bc I always had old iphones (usually 2 models behind) but got a galaxy s7. Apple probably wouldn't suffer so much in comparison if I'd had a 6s.

I have an iPhone 6 for my personal phone and a Galaxy S7 for my work phone. I reeeeeeally hate the Galaxy. I think it's just because I'm used to the iPhone (I've had one for years). But I hate that I don't have forward and backward buttons on my browser. I hate the auto correct. I hate that the phone randomly dials numbers and I can't figure out why. I hate so many things about it.
