Fuck. It's a difference of about $500/month. I can pay everything without it, but won't be able to put as much towards debt.
There are almost no other promotion opportunities in my agency due to our budget situation. And I'm not sure if applying for promotions at other agencies is the way to go, either. The budget situation government-wide is terrible, and I'd hate to end up at an agency that's even worse off than mine.
Ugh. I'm having a "hate being a grown up" day.
ETA- this is through no fault of my own. My supervisor, who is also on a temporary promotion, has asked to go back to her old job, which is the job I'm currently in. So I have to go back to my old job.
I'm sorry Bernadine. I know the budget situation sucks a big one. If we hadn't moved, I would have been laid off within 2 months I'm pretty sure.
I guess it can't hurt to at least apply. I think you can get a pretty good idea of an individual agency's budget while interviewing/research. You don't always have to accept an offer.
