I have family there this week so I was curious about how the crowds are. I checked the wait times on the DW apps and there were a lot of rides with 20 minutes ore less wait time. I thought Disney was super crowded until after Labour Day.

We were just there Sat, Sun and Mon. I do not think the crowds were bad. Some things had long lines (mine train, splash) but we FPed those. I was able to get an evening Splash FP the day before.
The second half of August sees reduced crowds due to the HORRIBLE weather and more and more kids going back to school/getting ready to go back to school. Plus this year there are Zika concerns and the poor South American economy that further reduces crowds.
We went 8/29 to 9/4 last year and had amazing wait times! I don't think we waited more than 15-20 minutes for anything all week. At one point the worker at buzz lightyear told DS he could just stay on :-) It was HOT and rained pretty much every afternoon. But we would rather heat than people :-) We're heading back tomorrow again! ( so same week as last year, really) and hoping for the same thing. BUT I know at least 8 other people who are gonna be there, too.... So I think the secret might be out

We just got back on Tuesday - I felt like wait times were low but some parks (AK in particular) still seemed crowded when walking around. It might have been due to the narrow pathways though. I would definitely go back in late August again.

Labor Day weekend surprisingly doesn't really have awful crowds. We were pleasantly surprised when we went two years ago. I assume it's because most people have just started back to school, so they don't want to pull their kids out.

I'm here now and I specifically planned it for this week bc the crowds are supposed to be lower. Lots of kids are back in school. It's free dining so historically crowds are lower or are they wouldn't be offering the promotion right now.
We got back yesterday and it wasn't bad! MK I thought was busy- but it always is. But at Epcot we rode soarin about 5 times with no wait, rode test track 3 times without much wait, and we were able to get a same-day fast pass for toy story at Hollywood studios...
