I'm headed to Vegas in October and it's my 4th time there. We've done a lot of shows, eaten at some great restaurants, but I'm looking for some ideas that we haven't done before.
Can you share some of your favorite things you've experienced in Vegas? Your favorite restaurant or shows? The last time I was there was 2 years ago. Is there anything brand new I need to check out?
The last hike we did there was Ice Box Canyon at Red Rock Canyon, and it's my favorite one we've done around Vegas. It wasn't that tough and would probably be even easier in the fall because I assume there would be almost no water in the creek, whereas we had to do a lot of hopping around because we went when the snow was melting.
If you'd prefer something that's less about the hike and more about the scenery, the White Domes hike at Valley of Fire was easy but gorgeous. I have pictures of that in my blog.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Seriously though we really enjoyed eating at Mon Ami Gabi (at Paris) out on the patio. The food was great, and we had a perfect view of the Bellagio fountains.
Have you been to Hoover Dam yet? I really enjoyed that as well.
Have you seen any cirque de soleil shows yet? I would highly recommend Mystere. I also want to see O next time I'm there. Have you been to Fremont St downtown? That's fun too.

I may have to check out this restaurant! We have been to the Hoover Dam, as well as the Grand Canyon (two of our trips to Vegas were driving from Kansas).
We have never been to a Cirque show- in fact, that's on the list. That, and a couples massage at our hotel.

Definitely check out a Cirque show. I've been to Mystere, O, La Reve, Zumanity, and KA. Loved every single one of them. Zumanity is more along the lines of comedy, and of course there's nudity, but there's still some 'classic Cirque' to it. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
If you like french food, and you have the spare cash, Le Cirque at the Bellagio is fabulous.
I've always liked the food at Fix at the Bellagio, too.
Mix, the club at Mandalay Bay is great.
Voodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio is great, too.
Top of the World, the restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere is really nice. It's a revolving restaurant, so you get the great views of the city throughout dinner. And if you're adventurous, try out one of the rides on the top.
I'll further the motion that hiking out in Red Rock is gorgeous.
If you like roller coasters, the one at New York, New York is a blast.
Freemont Street is a total throwback to the 'old days' of Vegas, and it's different to walk down there compared to the strip. And the zipline there is fun.

Have you done the Neon Museum? www.neonmuseum.org/ I went when I was there in March and it was awesome. It officially opens October 27th (you didn't say when in Oct you'd be there). I highly recommend going if you can. Oh, I should mention that you really need a rental car to get there since it's not on the strip.
