I KNOW they're both inappropriate, I'm ok with this.
My mom just offered to take my kids over the weekend for our 10th anniversary. It's too late to book anything out of town at a decent price, so I looked at in town stuff.
There's a food festival all weekend and Friday night a Sublime tribute band and Reel Big Fish will be there (total throwbacks from my youth!) and both of these comedians are in town as well on Saturday.
Norm MacDonald's voice kind of annoys me but he's at a casino, so a better place to stay. The other isn't near anything else really fun. Maybe some bars, but you'd have to drive.
DH doesn't care I don't think. I think he's sad I said no to beaches and beers. But we're going to Florida in October for a week (with kids though) and NYC in May, so the travel budget is a bit tight and we're looking at 2 weeks away at this point.

I think Norm MacDonald is legit funny. I have heard Bob Saget can be beyond raunchy so I'd probably stick with Norm, expecting him to be raunchy, too. The not having to drive would probably sway me.

I hate them both, but out of the two I think I'd rather see Sagat, but I do like that NM is at a casino. H and I have gotten rooms at casinos and we don't really gamble, we just like to walk around and drink and people watch.
I've seen Saget. He's pretty funny, but definitely raunchy/borderline offensive.
He's also permanently on cocaine, it seems. His stand-up is a lot of non-sequitur one-liners that sometimes make no sense to anyone who isn't Bob/high as a kite.
And he talked at lot about fucking Kimmy Gibbler (or not) (or maybe).

I saw Norm and was disappointed. That was about 7 years ago. However, it was a show at a really, really small venue in Utah and I think maybe he was playing it safe. I was prepared for more scandalous comedy and I felt like he was super tame.
HOWEVER, he told me that I smelled nice after the show when I was taking a picture with him. Not in like a creepy, come to my trailer way. Just more of an observation. There were several people that he hung around and talked to after the show, and he was very nice and polite.
I've seen Bob Saget and he's super offensive/raunchy. If you're into that, then go see him. If not, I'd pick Norm MacDonald. I've never seen him do stand up, but he's funny enough, I guess

I will now have "She's got a girlfriend now," stuck in my head.
I love stand-up. Norm was really awful on the last season of Last Comic Standing--like awful meaning old and slow.
Bob excessively swears to be funny and it's not funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm as crude as it gets and love a good dick joke (and cruder), but I hate the swearing as trying to be funny.

I've seen Norm's stand up act and it's hilarious. I would pick him a thousand times over, but I am a big fan of his podcast, his short lived show on Comedy Central and basically any talk show appearance he's ever made (specifically the one on Conan in the 90s with Courtney Thorne-Smith)
jlt19, thanks for this post. I had no idea Norm MacDonald was coming here and now H and I are going. Yay!
Also, knx9211, I saw Reel Big Fish back in high school at an all day festival. They were so much fun! Miss the 90s.
I just googled things to do that weekend and they both popped up.
I saw RBF in HS at a pointfest so I'm really stupidly excited. And I still jam out to Sublime on the regular, so it just makes it even better. Plus, free!
Bob Saget. Maybe YouTube them to see which one you like better.
This is good advice! Watch a little bit of both of their acts and pick from there.
I saw Norm at the Funny Bone once. I didn't love it. But, I don't know much about Saget's act, and based on the feedback here, I might go back to Norm...Sorry, not helpful!!SaveSave
I just saw Bob Saget almost two weeks ago. He definitely gave me the giggles.
Eta: And yes, his act is very raunchy and profanity-laden. I think what made his act infectious to me is that he really seemed to be enjoying himself, like there was no other place he wanted to be.
