Can someone tell me what happened in the cute kids thread? I gather something, do I need to read it? That's a lot of pages for what I gather was some bullish.

In order of offenses...

1. My kid gets called cute because they have blond hair and blue eyes (no one calls poster out right away).

2. After call out- well you all should be nice when people say racist stuff. Calling them out isn't educational.

3. Non apology-apology for the blond hair blue eye comment

4. Discussion for several pages about race issues and someone pops in with a pic of their cute kid. Someone points out pretty nicely that the thread is no longer about cute kids. She says "oh I know, I was trying to distract people and switch the conversation back teeheehee." Followed by "my kids are biracial so it's not offensive for me to ignore the race issues." Followed by "you all are very mean." Deactivation.

I think it all starts on page 4 or 5.

If I never hear the phrase "I'm listening/reading and learning" it will be too soon. How much listening needs to happen before you start doing better?

This! The amount of handholding needed when it comes to racial issues is irritating. Don't say asshole things...seems pretty simple, actually.
