You should be fine. We did the flight from DC to San Fran with 7, 2 and 5 month old and the kids were great. They slept on the red eye and all was well.
I also think you'll be fine. DD flew a bunch starting when she was about 3 months and I only remember 1 or 2 bad flights. I took DS on a 11hour flight when he was 10 months old, and it was uneventful. My kids are pretty decent sleepers so taking a red eye usually works for us.

I think night flights are easier with little ones, because they will conk no matter what (hopefully). Just do nasal spray beforehand -- my son is seven and never had a problem with ears while flying but coming back from Disney last week he was sobbing hysterically as we landed, I guess his nose was a little blocked this time and it was awful. Have fun! I always feel like anyplace (Atlantic or Gulf) coastal in hurricane season is a bit of a crapshoot anyway.
