I really enjoyed the second episode. I was confused a lot of the first. The visuals on this show are stunning. Other than Aunt Violet and the father who died, I didn't recognize any of the actors. Oh, except the guy who plays the grandfather's friend. Wasn't he on a soap? So far Nova is my fave character. Can't wait to see what happens next week!

Yes, he was on All My Children. And was Robert on The Cosby Show.
I just watched both episodes. This was so, so good.
The moment Blue saw his grandfather in the hospital I started sobbing and didn't stop until well after the episode ended. On my dad's last day in ICU, we were allowed to bring baby DD1 in, and we propped her into the crook of his arm while she napped. Dad was unconscious but they just looked so peaceful together and damn if that scene didn't take me immediately back to that moment.
It was so damn good. I cried a lot, and I'm not a crier. Blue looks so much like my nephew so his acting cut straight to my heart.
It was all so well developed. This will get me through my Being Mary Jane withdrawals.
On the other hand, Atlanta was meh. If it was someone other than Donald Glover, I'd probably like it more. For now, I'm just watching out of solidarity.
Oh gosh, I loved Atlanta! I was dying.
Queen Sugar is very good, also, but heavy. When shows are like that, I have to be mentally prepared first because I don't feel like being drained.
