Here's hoping my Christmas week won't be too crowded then.
I'm still using the touring plans and Kenny the Pirate calendars though.
We went in early August and it was way less busy than our multiple trips last fall despite higher crowd numbers predicted on all the sites.
I also realized I really despise going in party season, it was so nice to not deal with those. Our next trip is during MVMCP but it's combined with work so I have fewer days/nights to plan anyway.

Very interesting. I was planning to follow the crowd calendars for a visit in a couple weeks but maybe we'll just do whatever we feel like each day instead if it is really that unpredictable.

I've only ever been to Disney in the summertime. We went this July, a few days after the fourth...the first three days, I was looking around thinking "where are all the people?!?" It was a bit bizarre. We had empty Main Street photos and didn't wait more than 20 minutes for anything. According to the crowd calendars, crowds were supposed to decrease the following week, but it was actually the opposite.
Not sure what next year will bring with the free dining BB offer. Can't wait to see what the public offer is.

We were that week, too. It was dead!! I was so surprised. Crowds were better than our previous early December trip. We can only go in the summer now so I hope this trend continues.
We just got back from a trip over Labor Day weekend. I was shocked that the hours for MK were so long and that many of the rides were running at full capacity. The biggest shock was MNSSHP, it was INSANELY busy. I don't think we will do it again.
We basically only used FP to ride. We were able to ride TSMM six times in one day, which blows my mind (thanks to the third track!) Every time we used a FP, we booked another one. We got to ride the Mine Train three times in one day. I love being able to book the FPs from your phone. It is amazing.
Disboards are ridiculous. Trying to predict crowds right now is like trying to herd cats, Disney is TRYING to balance things so MOST days feel like a " 5" with a few outliers. Surge Pricing, Reduced Staffing etc go a long way to not make a park ever feel truly slow in terms of wait times.
I used to be a September park goer, our last and next trip are January trips ( '16 & '18)
Depending on how next Summer pans out I might do a June '18 instead of a September '18 too.

This sounds like the old FP system. I can't wait to get back down there.

Ugh, Josh also said to not expect low crowd the days of the MNSSHP/MVMCP when MK closes early. All of our MK days are party days- when we went last year the was a huge difference between party/non-party days, so I am hoping Josh is wrong and it will be the same this year.

MK was quite crowded on the party day this year (we just got back)
