She needs to be friends with Glennon Doyle of Momastery. She's on tour promoting a book about staying with her husband after infidelity. She filed for divorce two weeks before the tour started.
(Note: I have no problem with women staying or going in a marriage. It's the intense public navel gazing that makes me gag)
Lol, they apparently are bffs according to this post just yesterday haha
Eat, Pray, Love is awful. But I kind of enjoyed Committed.
NOT SO COMMITTED NOW!
Totally unrelated, but reading pretty much anything in all caps always makes me giggle. Well, unless someone was saying something really mean to me or someone else, but in general, it just makes me laugh because of the way I read it in my mind. lol
So long point short, thank you for making me laugh tonight.
wait I think you were talking about the tour for her first book: "But the week before Doyle Melton was to go on the road to promote it, her spinning world slammed to a halt. Craig, the doting husband who seemed like a crown jewel in her perfectly imperfect life, confessed that he’d been cheating on her throughout their marriage."

it sounds like they are still together
No she just announced their permanent split like 2 or 3 weeks ago. That quote above is in reference to her first book.
lol should have finished this article I'm reading: "Two weeks later, a month before the book’s release, she posted a new update on the blog: She and Craig are separating again."
Ugh. I read this book when it was all the rage and was like ummm...this is the worst most self indulgent pile of garbage ever. I thought I was the only one, I guess I have found my people lol. I didn't see the movie be I really couldn't understand what the fuck there was to make a movie about.
I never read Wild be I feared it would be the same shit. People tell me I should. What do my people say?

I couldn't finish Wild. Never attempted Eat Pray Love but did enjoy the parts in Committed when she wasn't talking about herself.
Can someone give me an abridged version of committed?
Gilbert and the Brazilian/Australian(? I don't remember) guy she met in Bali didn't want to get married and were basically gaming the US immigration system to spend time together (he came on 90 day tourist visas and stayed for the duration several times a year). They got called out by immigration and he could no longer enter the US. She couldn't POSSIBLY move somewhere he could live, but also couldn't POSSIBLY get married. They went to hang out in SE Asia again while she worked on getting over herself.
That was the bad part of the book. The rest is commentary on marriage in different parts of the world and throughout history. This part was actually interesting.

Oh so it's eat pray love part 2? Thanks for the summary, I will not be suckered by a good back cover read.
Ugh I have never been so annoyed at a writer as when she wrote a conversations with God about why she should leave her perfect husband. Gag. The travel parts interested me (just like reading what it was like there) but she herself was so insufferable it was ridiculous. You'd think someone doing that much navel gazing would have an ounce of self awareness to see how horribly she comes across but nope!
Eat Pray Love was a book club read for me if I remember. I only liked the Italy part.
if I remember correctly, she pitched the idea to a publisher and they gave her money to travel and "find herself" and write the book. It wasn't self-funded and she didn't go on the trip and then come back and be like "oh that was awesome, I should write it up and pitch to a publisher!" That bothered me.
I don't care for the way she and Glennon refer to their readers as "ones", "precious friends" etc. I'm new to their FB pages and haven't read their books but I find it as annoying and belittling as being called "honey" by someone younger than me. All of it just feels like emotions and drama for a money grab. it leaves me with an icky and used feeling.
