I have a futon. It's still in really good shape, except the mattress/cushion is really beat. I've been looking online at prices for the mattress replacements and they're mad expensive.
So I thought that maybe I could make a split cushion out of foam or another type of material and just sew a cover for it because I have mad sewing skills. I am online looking for foam at joann fabrics and I can't find what I want. Does anyone upholster furniture? Does anyone know where I can find this foam I am imagining exists?
Any ideas on a low cost fixer upper for a futon mattress? I use it as my sofa and I love my futon.

Sorry, I can't help. I left a 2 twin cheapo futons outside, and needed to replace the foam core, and went in search on line. The cheapest I could find was $250 for six cushions that were all approximately 30x30x5. The frame is still outside, and still cushionless. If you find something cheap, I'd love a shoutout!

My full futon mattress was like 6 inches thick. I got it at a local futon store for $110. That was 2003 but still. I just googled. Target and Walmart both have 8 inch futon mattresses for under $150.
