I'm going in April and they will have tickets available for April starting Jan 4. I wanted to go earlier since it's a quick train trip and I go back and forth regularly but I can only go on the weekends and I know the crowds will be large. Also, I was going to ask if anyone wanted to Gtg but I'll make a separate post about that

I havent been yet, but my cousin has. She told me there's a picture of our grandmother and her fellow WWII nurse troops in the military section. So excited and proud. I can't wait to see the whole museum, by especially that.
I met the curator of photography and film for NMAAHC, first of all she's AMAZING and I fan girled her HARD at the reception. I hope everyone gets a chance to go to the museum, it is so so inspiring and very needed
Whomp whomp I tried to get same day tickets while I was in DC yesterday but no such luck. I was up at 6:25 and started refreshing the page. At 6:30 when they were supposed to start being available it still said they weren't available yet. So I kept refreshing. Then at 6:33 it took longer to refresh and I got hopeful. But it went to a screen that said most of the times were sold out. It said there were a couple of times that said tickets not available. I refereshed again and those changed to sold out.
I'll be in DC again next month so I'll try again then. I ended up going to the Museum of American Indian History, which I need to go back to because I didn't have a lot of time to spend there.

I have heard that if you only need a single ticket you can sometimes get them off of your groups at the museum. They often have a few left over because they book blocks of them and don't always need them all. Might be worth a try.

Just go up and stand in line! You should be OK on a weekday.
