Up to what age is a backpack like the one pictured below considered useful? Imagine it with Buzz Lightyear instead of Elmo. (I can't find a picture of the real one).
I just spent 2+ hours on a Friday evening frantically shopping for clearance school supplies for work... and now I'm obsessing that one of the backpacks I bought is too young for the kid....
EDIT: Okay, I can't get the image to show up, but there's a clicky link instead. Sorry.
We've got the elmo version and if the buzz lightyear is the same size, I'd say its fine for preschoolers. Its on the small side...granted even in K/1st they dont need a HUGE backpack, but they all seem to carry the regular size ones by that age.
as for the buzz lightyear character, I'd say its fine through K/1st (Sprout would still dig it, but not for much longer).
Also, thanks for your input, CT! Though it leaves me totally on the fence about whether I can give him this bag or if I have to go out and scour stores this weekend for an appropriate bag....
we posted at the same time, lol. the "awesome" was in response to the hello kitty bag - she's gonna love it for sure.
I wouldnt put a ton of time into finding a new bag, but if you happen to find something a little bigger, great. If not, he's going to be just fine with that one.
If it is for K, I would base it on whether you can get a full sized folder in there. It looks kinda small...
Hhm... that is an excellent point. I just tried it and I can fit it in but it is a little bit snug. And now I'm really wishing I had also remembered to buy folders at the store this evening, but I guess they'll just have to get their own folders.

Yeah, I figured out what happened
I am going to follow this advice I think. If I do find another one then I either have to return this one or I have to find a younger kid who doesn't have an older sibling (who would then also want a backpack) to give this one to. Thanks!
