It really depends on who it is and how I feel that day. Some people I just go ahead and unfriend others I might comment. My aunt and her racist/homophobic likes are hidden because I can't comment on them and I leave that for my mom to engage with.
I recently unfriended a guy from HS b/c I had not idea why we were even still friends and it wasn't worth my time. I did see some other people go in on him.
Both of these are POC so it baffles me even more but it is what it is.
I have a few white friends that mostly "like" borderline stuff- it doesn't quite cross the line but is just coded language.

@foodielicious - I keep my friends list minimal too. A couple weeks ago my H's friend (co-best man at our wedding) posted something really disgusting and stereotypical of my race. I just unfriended him and said nothing. It's still haunting me.
I will either hide them or unfriend them. I recently went through and purged my list which I think has helped. I am honestly very surprised though that I don't see a lot of things that cause me to raise my eyebrows or side eye someone based on what they've posted. Either that means I don't know enough people or I've done a good job of unfriending those who are "ridiculous" and created a FB bubble where I only see things from like-minded individuals. Which the more I think about it, I wonder if that's a good thing?
I honestly have no one on Facebook that posts racists stuff. If they did, they'd get a big fuck you and unfriend. I did have 1 friend post something about essentially "no skittles for poor people" but didn't post the persons race but I said something. She eventually agreed with me but I got in to an argument with her brother,
I have said stuff about anti-abortion posts and quickly unfriended.
But other than that thankfully all my Facebook friends are cool. I don't put up with such foolishness, if you show your ass I will unfriend, none of this just hiding posts.

If it was an actual friend, I would be more likely to say something. If it's a "Facebook friend" like a distant relative or something like that, I would probably just unfriend. I added a bunch of Facebook friends from my (small-town, Oklahoma) high school at one point just out of curiosity for how they turned out, and I ended up unfriending them all pretty quickly, lol.
Apparently I am very confrontational. Lol. I find it so hard to not say something. I have only ever unfriended one person and it was bc she was extremely religious, married to a minority, but still posting stupid shit and her FB friends were even worse. I think I had a friend change get settings so I couldn't see her posts after some Syrian refugee stuff. I did take a break from FB because I was tired of the arguments.

I unfriended dozens of ignorant and foolish racists (covert and not-so covert) "friends" about a year ago, and have unfollowed a few others, including dear old dad. I'd say 90% of the people I unfriended were part of military circles--spouses/former spouses. They had to go.
In the past I was likely not to do anything. I'd hide the person or something innocuous. Though to be fair, my FB page pretty consistently not fully of racist billshit.
However, since this election cycle, I've really cracked down. I've unfriended 9 people and blocked about 20. The blocks were not people who I was friends with, but people who were posting on other friends posts. I always do a call out now about their racist comments before I just unfriend.
I don't have time to waste on assholes, ignoramuses, or racists.

I try not to get so caught up in always having a response and knowing when to walk away.
A lot of my facebook feed is reasonable stuff. Occasional bs from one of my family members that is kind of off-base. Like pants sagging, etc. The problem that I encounter the most is that my reasonable friends don't have reasonable friends. So their dumb asses post stuff on fb, and I hammer away at them. Sometimes I can't bring myself to respond to yet another "all lives matter" post. Sometimes, I'm going for the gusto.
I've only had one. Granted, I have a very small friends list. Less than 50 I believe. Anyway, this was during the Paula Deen N-word mess. I went off on her and defriended. Then I awkwardly ran into her when I went home to visit and gave her a dirty look. My mom specifically requested that I not flip her the bird, so I didn't.
