Ohana dinner- THEY ARE ALWAYS BEHIND... Like seriously I have heard 1 million stories about being seated 45 minutes to 1 hour after your ADR.
NOW the food is pretty good, and it's a lively atmosphere BUT I don't CRAVE it. HOWEVER if you are at the Poly and are craving the wings and potstickers you can order it through in room dining. I am SURE it is $$$ but it's possible.
Breakfast at Ohana was good. I thought the food was basic, BUT delicious. Like really really good basic food. We had one of the last seatings so we waited a LONG time for Stitch, but we weren't in a big rush. I like character meals where they bring the food to your table.
Spirit of Aloha. The show was a little slow in some parts, but the FOOD was FREAKING DELICIOUS. I ate ALL THE PULLED PORK on the platter myself ( good thing no one else in my party eats pork.I mean they would have refilled it but I was like NOM NOM NOM ) AND the server was FAST with the Sangria refills. Like crazy fast. Like I was on my 4th when we left. DS LOVED the floor show even though he got a little antsy he was super excited to see the fire dancer at the end and made it through the slow parts because he REALLY wanted to see that.I felt like the whole experience felt really really " special" and exciting. I would do it again. HOWEVER I LOVE DINNER SHOWS, and am a HUGE FAN of HDDR. So YMMV.

Can I piggyback a HDDR question here? We are going with a large group this December and I'm worried my kids (1 and 3) aren't going to be able to sit still that long. How dark does the room get? Is there a bar area or someplace where I can take them if they're fussing but I can still see the show?

Pioneer Hall doesn't really have a bar area, but you can kind of stand off to the side if they get antsy. DS went at 2 and almost 4 and LOVED it both times. The lights are really barely dimmed. I think the only part that might frighten them is when the performers first " arrive" it's loud and abrupt, but they are immediately singing and dancing, so the kids get into it. It's not terribly long because the " action " is changing every 10 -15 minutes, so they bring out salad and rolls and then they do a " set" then a break and dinner is served and then another " set" then another break and " STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!!" and then another set and the grand finale.
DS cried at the 8pm show at 3 because he has a HARD time staying up that late, but I took him out ( to the bathrooms which are outside around the corner) and he had a great time when we went back.
We have been lucky each year because we have always been seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time at Ohana. But I would wait forever because it is our favorite meal, the salad, noodles, and dessert...I want it now! I did the show many years ago but thought it was kind of corny so we haven't done it since, but I don't remember much about the meal, I am sure it was good!

@savestheday, when you do the Spirit of Aloha if you're staying at the poly and arrive on a Wednesday and leave on a Monday?
This past trip we had to change a lot of reservations (reducing the amount of people going) because J would fall asleep and would not wake up for dinner reservations.
can't speak for anything but we are doing breakfast at Ohana on our departure day. figured it would be one last fun thing to do before the drive home. we looked at dinner but I don't think the girls would like the food and wait.

We did the earliest show. I don't remember when but it was early.
I have now been craving that pulled pork since yesterday. DAMMIT!
