This past July we had...
WGP Express (dinner) Bongos Express (dinner) BOG (breakfast) Crystal Palace (lunch) Akershus (breakfast) Via Napoli (late lunch/early dinner) Mama Melrose (lunch) Tusker House (breakfast) 1900 Park Fare (dinner) Bongos Cuban Cafe (dinner) Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch)
Most we loved! The only place I'm not eager to return to is LTT. The fritters were really gross, my salad was wilted and incredibly overdressed, and my kids didn't want to eat their food either.
Next trip I'd like to try Garden Grill (breakfast) and maybe Big River Grille.

I traveled with picky eaters so take that for what it's worth but I don't think I would return to any of the TS we picked except for 1900 Park Fare. I thought the food there was the best out of all the character meals we did.
In August we did a bunch!! Tusker house ( character buffet in animal kingdom) 50s Prime Time diner ( Hollywood studios) Be our guest Liberty tree tavern Yachtsmen steakhouse Garden Grill Biergarten We've also liked sci fi dine in and whispering canyon cafe on other trips
I think most of the restaurants have good and bad things.... It depends on what you're looking for, and your group ( all adults, kids and adults, etc....)

Our must haves on each trip are Ohana, San Angel Inn (mostly from nostalgia from my childhood), and Sci Fi Diner. We also like Hoop Dee Doo but don't do that every trip because of the price/time it takes.

We love San Angel Inn in Mexico, we get drinks and queso in the tequila bar first, and then dinner in the restaurant. But that was before kids, lol.
We also loved Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, if you're there long enough you could have time to venture out to the resort restaurants. It's pricey but really different and yummy.
spaghetticat - which ones did you try and dislike...?
I didn't hate any of them, I just don't think I would go back. It was almost too much character interaction.
Chef Mickey's - the food was Better than I expected given the awful reviews
Tusker House - was fine but I'd rather try Yak and Yeti or something next time
My party was underwhelmed with BOG for breakfast, dinner was ok
Akershus was fine but no need to do it again. It took forever to get in despite the ADR
Hollywood and Vine was probably the worst food but it still wasn't terrible
CRT was nice to experience once but no need to go back especially since the food was just ok and it cost 2 TS
I'm not complaining because like I said, nothing was awful. I'd just rather try something else next time.
Mickey's BBQ was actually really cool for the food and character interaction but it's also 2 TS.
I've never had a character meal I've loved but we do them for the kids. I think we've done almost all the character meals (except ohana breakfast) and we've never had one that we've felt the need to repeat.
We did Hollywood and Vine lunch last year for the disney Jr characters. It was the worst character meal we ever had- food meh, had to wait to be seated and were there over 1.5 hours and saw only one character. We had long since finished eating and we complained to the woman at the front because DS was falling asleep sitting there- they brought over 2 more but the 4th character never came and we finally just left.
Okay if I was going for 6 nights 7 days RIGHT NOW where would I eat?
It 100 percent depends on where I am staying, but some favorites are
Saana ( BREAD SERVICE!!) Ohana ( I'm just really craving this place rn ) Hoop de Doo Review AND The luau Nine Dragons is a sleeper hit San Angel Inn is really fun and I like the food ( but I'm not from somewhere with AMAZING Mexican food) Garden Grill for lunch or dinner is a great character meal Crystal Palace PPO breakfast is a tradition I also really like Yak and Yet and Tusker House but I never seem to eat in AK too much
